In a somewhat unbelievable turn of events, it was revealed last night that the folks at Parler were using Amazon of all companies as the provider for their web hosting services. I honestly am having an incredibly difficult time wrapping my mind around that fact.
That reality came back to haunt Parler’s management on Saturday when Amazon very predictably notified them that their social media endeavor will be de-platformed as of midnight tonight:
Now, from my own recent experience, I can assure you that Parler will not be able to move its extremely complex operation to a new hosting provider in a single day, so Amazon’s anti-trust action will cause Parler’s service to become temporarily unavailable. That might last only a few days, but it will be quite damaging to Parler’s business. Again, it is really rather amazing that Parler left itself at the mercy of Jeff Bezos and his company’s whims and evil intent.
In an email sent to its users this morning, management at Parler’s competitor, Gab, addressed the current brutal monopolistic behavior by these Big Tech oligarchs:
If your business is built on the backs of Silicon Valley tyrants (Apple, Google, et al) they can and will attempt to destroy you if and when you become a threat to their interests.
They did this to Gab. Then Fortnite. Now Parler.
Terrible content of all kinds is available on Twitter and Facebook.
Everyone on the planet knows this fact.
Yet both companies are on both App Stores.
Apple banning Parler is not the neutral implementation of some objective standard, but rather a cynical, politically motivated gesture and evidence of Silicon Valley elites’ disdain for ordinary Americans.
The solution, as always, is not government.
It is to build your own.
People mock this meme, but Gab lives it.
While others whine, we build.
[End]
No doubt many are growing weary of reading this here, but all of this could have been headed off had President Trump and the Republicans in congress focused their efforts over the past four years to getting rid of Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, which serves effectively as an anti-trust exemption for these Big Tech oligarchs, and enables them to basically do as they please. With Democrats about to be in control of both houses of congress and the presidency, we can be sure that nothing will be done to rein in the abuse for at least the next four years.
If Donald Trump decides to go the route of forming a third political party around this army of 75 million voters when he returns to private life, it should be formed around the founding principle of ridding our nation of these Big Tech monopolies. The GOP has already conclusively proven that it has no ability to or intention of protecting the free speech rights of U.S. citizens.
That is all.
John said it will be back up around noon on Sunday on another platform.
McConnell wanted it considered in the Stimulus Package. It was ignored.
The first step is to deplatform the platforms.
Moving to new servers will only delay the silencing.
The very internet communications channels can be interdicted and filtered as well.
“Open” and unrestricted Free Speech is GONE, folks.
It’s OVER.
You’ll have to get very creative ns rely on NO filterable Common Carrier.
All a little person like me can do is 1) stop using Amazon, 2) tell EVERYONE I know, to stop using Amazon, 3) don’t use any products by the oligarchs who hate me.
Perhaps the idea will eventually take root.
The crocodile's were fed without people thinking of the consequences.
Time after time, large multinational companies were 'given' tax breaks and other advantages, while they off-shored, called for more immigration and grew the social justice league.
Not surprised. With no policy controlling content Parler is asking for it. I looked at that platform months ago but determined there were a few too many flakes for my taste. Still, I don’t like the concerted effort I see to silence certain ideas.
My sister has Prime. She started to place large orders of all-Chinese crap — stuff identified as returnable. Then she returns everything.
I cancelled my Amazon Prime this morning.
Parler’s CEO just went on FoxNews and stated that not only will Amazon shut down their server services tonight.....
Many of their other vendors (Company e-mail etc.) have terminated their agreements with them....
Now it includes their Law Firm which stated today it will no longer represent them.....
Same happened to Gab after the Pittsburg synagogue shooting. And our unprincipled conservative media said nothing.
Agree wholeheartedly. I honestly think the election was lost, not so much from fraud in voting, but from the incredible, unrelenting propaganda of the media and Internet. A huge chunk of voters are over 65, and far too many still listen/believe their nightly TV news station. And the social media giants kept many younger voters from even KNOWING about Biden’s corruption or about how many LIES were/are being told about COVID.
Republicans screwed up by accepting an inherently dishonest voting standard in PA & Georgia. In Arizona, I think the big problem was how little NEWS actually reached the voters. Add in China money paying for never ending ads - none of which ever mentioned the people running were democrats - and a red/pink state turned slightly blue.

I’ve been mentioning this in other threads, but not just Amazon — a complete Economic Blackout, for at least a few months. Amazon, Twitter, FB etc. you should drop forever, but if we could get conservatives to stop spending any money, watching any TV, etc. for a few months it would really have an impact.
Like you said, they hate us anyway, so why would we continue to support them? And it’s legal and can be anonymous — no one even has to know you’re participating (in not participating).
“Now it includes their Law Firm which stated today it will no longer represent them.....”
It’s a sad state of affairs when Alan Dershowitz seems to be the only prominent lawyer who would be glad to represent Trump in an impeachment trial. Maybe he’d represent Parler as well.
“With no policy controlling content Parler is asking for it.”
Agree. However, once content control begins so does the slippery slope. Woke executives move into control of the company over time and mission creep progresses. What’s wrong with a company that says all speech is welcome, and give the community the ability police itself?
Gab has its own servers, hardware, and software so they will be harder to shut down. They also have their own browser (Dissenter) and TV channel. It is far more functional than Parler, more like classic twitter. I am really enjoying it when it doesn’t time out....they signed up 750K people yesterday and have more servers on the way.
Just watched this on Maria’s show, all other cloud server sources have denied access to them. A big tech coordinated effort to destroy them and “unapproved” speech.
As an aside, when FR went down a month or so ago, John and Jim were criticized for hosting its own servers instead of moving to the “cloud.” Given the events of the past 24 hours, it’s the only reason FR is not now in the same place as Parler is because of this difference. BTW, it still remains unknown if individual ISP’s will shut off access to FR.
I just joined the club.
Wow...now we’re asking for it. Nice idea of “freedom” you got there.
