Egg on Their Faces: 10 Climate Alarmist Predictions for 2020 That Went Horribly Wrong(awwww)

Long before Beto O’Rourke claimed the world only had 10 years left for humans to act against climate change, alarmists had spent decades predicting one doomsday scenario after another, each of which stubbornly failed to materialize. It seems climate armageddon has taken a permanent sabbatical.

Many of those doomsday predictions specifically mentioned the annus horribilus of 2020. Those predictions also failed, some rather spectacularly.

Steve Milloy, a former Trump/Pence EPA transition team member and founder of JunkScience.com, compiled ten climate predictions for 2020 that fell far off the mark.

Yeah it doesn’t matter unless Trump holds onto the presidency.

No one on here is naive enough to think this will slow the spending or the lies or Greta’s spotlight on the world stage.

Something that actually IS debunked, and msm ignores it

Not really good news. If the media doesn’t report, the stupid American public is unaware. Bring it up, and you’re an “extremist” or a “denier”.

It is their religion. Nothing will convince them they are not saving the eart from America. CO2 doesn’t cause anything.

A minor correction. In point 3, The Indian increase in CO2 emissions is 100% not 200%.

In a lot of cases, even if aware, they don’t get it.

My favorite is still the period directly following hurricane Katrina, when the climate know-it-alls assured us that what hit New Orleans was just a harbinger of continual hurricane disasters to come - and then we didn’t have a major (Cat 3 or Cat 4) blow hit the US mainland for almost 10 years.

Those dire climate predictions did NOT fail. The were temporarily averted. And that’s only because of the baby steps we’ve taken so far to address Climate Change.

(That’s what the Climate Change lunatics will tell you, anyway.)

According to the World Bank, India emitted 1.2 million kilotons of CO2 in 2005 and 2.4 million kilotons of CO2 in 2018, the last year data is available, a 200 percent increase. China, meanwhile, emitted 5.9 million kilotons in 2005 and 9.9 million kilotons in 2016, a 168 percent increase.

I hate to nitpick, but it hurts the article's persuasiveness if the author cannot perform simple math. 1.2 million to 2.4 million is a 100% increase. 5.9 million to 9.9 million is a 68% increase.

Nice article.

THX.

If you become the most cynical asshole possible when it comes to all of these enviro stories, you will be right >95% of the time. If you say “bullshit” without even hearing them out, without even knowing their “science” proving everyone will get skin cancer from an ozone hole, or how the spotted owl is endangered, or how we will run out of potable water, acid rain will kill all the forests and that the amazon rain-forest will all be chopped down, you will be right >95% of the time.

So, if you are the gambling type, and you hear a new enviro apocalypse story, (I think these are now being replaced by viruses/diseases), you will win the bet. But as stated, the new story isn't the environment anymore. Viruses are now the new story and will be used to make people pay more taxes, vote a certain way, subjugate themselves to more government bureaucracy, and buy new products. Zika, West Nile, Sars, Swine and bird flu were just the beginning, the opening salvos so to say. Now with Corona, we will have a new pandemic constantly.

The question is, do you want to spend the rest of your life hopping on one leg and touching your nose because some politician, the media, a corporation, or a social activist wants you to because it benefits them somehow? All good people hop on one leg. You want to be a good person, don't you?

Portland can burn to the ground and San Francisco may have more beggars than cobblestones. We are in literal global conflict against Islam. China is a growing nation threat that is becoming more belligerent as they gain strength. Meanwhile, we worry about the ozone hole and people feel bad for using a can of hairspray in the past or do the same today with corona-virus and masks. That's what makes leaders, like Cuomo! Wow, he took action in a crisis!!!

Be more than just a little critical / cynical with all of these stories where they are really asking for your subjugation. And don't trust those fake conservatives either, they simply want to subjugate you in a police state. It's almost always bullshit and about money and power.

Whenever you encounter a global warming idiot , just ask this simple question

When is the next Ice Age?

When they start to think about that, their brain gets confused

The correct answer is about 5000 years

In general the larger ice ages are in the order of 110,000 years

However we’ve had shorter term once in the past few hundred years such as The Maraunder minimum

The Maunder Minimum, also known as the “prolonged sunspot minimum”, is the name used for the period around 1645 to 1715 during which sunspots became exceedingly rare, as was then noted by solar observers. The term was introduced after John A. Eddy

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/28/Sunspot_Numbers.png
and so on and so forth

The bottom line is if we’re talking about global temperature ; then clearly all were talking about is the sun

No I think the environmentalist types would be a lot more effective if they would talk about pollution. Air and water pollution

Go to Mexico City or any city in China and you’ll see what billions of two-stroke motors and coal fired plants. do to the air

And we all saw the Great Lakes and Lake Erie catch fire in the 60s and 70s

It’s something we can all agree on - getting rid of pollution

I did my undergraduate and graduate thesis work on hydrogen

With solar panels and water you can power the entire planet

No, all of us did not see that. In fact, no one saw that. In those years, every day I saw Lake Erie from our front porch, and it was not in flames.

IIRC it was the Cuyahoga River that was flaming.
I swam in Lake Erie every summer as a kid.
I don’t think it hurt me all that much.
