Jordan Peterson Vs. Crybaby Stalinists
The American Conservative ^ | 24 Nov 2020 | Rod Dreher

This is a line in the g-ddamn sand:

Several Penguin Random House Canada employees confronted management about the company’s decision to publish a new book by controversial Canadian psychologist Jordan Peterson at an emotional town hall Monday, and dozens more have filed anonymous complaints, according to four workers who spoke to VICE World News.

On Monday, Penguin Random House Canada, Canada’s largest book publisher and a subsidiary of Penguin Random House, announced it will be publishing Beyond Order: 12 More Rules for Life by Peterson, to be released in March 2021. The book will be published by Portfolio in the U.S. and Penguin Press in the U.K., both part of the Penguin Random House empire.

Four Penguin Random House Canada employees, who did not want to be named due to concerns over their employment, said the company held a town hall about the book Monday, during which executives defended the decision to publish Peterson while employees cited their concerns about platforming someone who is popular in far-right circles.

“He is an icon of hate speech and transphobia and the fact that he’s an icon of white supremacy, regardless of the content of his book, I’m not proud to work for a company that publishes him,” a junior employee who is a member of the LGBTQ community and who attended the town hall told VICE World News.

Another employee said “people were crying in the meeting about how Jordan Peterson has affected their lives.” They said one co-worker discussed how Peterson had radicalized their father and another, who is talked about how publishing the book will negatively affect their non-binary friend.

Librarians are just as biased. They used to put Rush’s books in the fiction section.

Librarians are leftists

“He is an icon of hate speech and transphobia"

I believe their central problem with Dr. Peterson is that Canada wants a law that FORCES people to speak a certain way. Specifically -- if I tell you that I am trans and my preferred pronouns are Ze and Zim, then you HAVE to use those new pronouns. You can be arrested if you don't.

Peterson's position is basically -- no one has invented a new pronoun in centuries. That's not how language works. That's not how freedom of speech works. I will not comply.

That's his "hate speech and transphobia".

I am currently reading (concurrently reading--very slowly) Peterson's Maps of Meaning and The Gulag Archipelago.

I highly recommend them both...together.

I am reading them on Audible (on my Kindle Fire), so I do a huge amount of rewinding and replay.

I am sure that is true.
I went to a California library, some years ago, to research some stuff on refuting communism. I asked if they had a copy of the Communist Manifesto, that I could look at. Within 2 seconds, she had the Communist Manifesto in my hand. I was shocked, how fast she gave it to me, but I guess I shouldn’t be.

So now we need Stalinism for the “Trans people” and for the “non-binary people” - what the hell?

I watched a Youtube of of Peterson reading a portion of the introduction to his new book. Oh man, it’s not the type of book you can just read. Each sentence must be studied.

The Audible version I am reading is read by Peterson himself and he is a fast talker. I will probably reread the book many times before it begins to really sink in.

That's said, it is still a pleasure to read. It's just packed with so much profound stuff it takes a lot of time to digest.

That's why I read several books at a time. The Gulag Archipelago is a breeze compared to Peterson.;-)

Say what? I have to continually stop reading that book because while fascinating, I cannot believe how cruel and evil people and society can become. And I’m not some kind of sissified snowflake. I’m infantry.

I've been studying evil and man's inhumanity to man for a very long time.

I'm no longer surprised.

As Peterson and Solzhenitsyn both say, we are all capable of being guards at Nazi or Soviet concentration camps if so induced.

Yes; we all have the potential for evil within ourselves.

The writer Robert Penn Warren referred to it as “being a brother to dragons.”

Love Audible ...

Perhaps you would find interesting the “speed” tool in the settings.

Best wishes!
