Andrew Cuomo went on a rant against police who refuse to enforce his lockdown rules, insinuating they aren’t true law enforcement officers.
Last week, the New York governor restricted the number of people that can attend a Thanksgiving gathering in a private residence and imposed a curfew on bars and restaurants.
“We know indoor gatherings and parties are a major source of COVID spread,” he announced. “To slow the spread, NYS will limit indoor gatherings at private residences to 10 people.”
The edict produced a backlash amongst several sheriffs in the Empire State, with some even saying they would not be enforcing the arbitrary rules.

Cuomo attacked those in law enforcement who refused to carry out his whim as maybe not being true officers of the law.
“I don’t believe that person is a law enforcement officer,” Cuomo told reporters Wednesday. “I don’t want a law enforcement officer who says, ‘I’m only enforcing the law that I like or think should be enforced.’”
The Democrat governor went on to equate mask-wearing and private gatherings to domestic violence.
“Well, ‘I’m not going to enforce domestic violence laws because that’s a family affair?'” he mocked. “No: There’s a law and you have to enforce the law, or don’t call yourself a law enforcement officer.”

I think you could make a good case that Cuomo’s order to put covid patients in nursing homes amounts to criminally negligent homicide. Maybe they could arrest him.
The Fulton Sheriff explained today that there’s a difference between a law and an EO. There are no penalties with the present EO so how is he to enforce it?
Said he and cuoma went to the same law school and took the same oath when they took office. Nothing has changed in the past 20 years so cuomo knows that he’s wrong with his EO.
Sheriff also said, what’s he going to do when there are 20 people in a house, throw out grandma and grandpa?? Also said that people do not have to open the door to them.
He also stated that he only has 3 deputies. No, he’s not going to enforce cuomo’s insanity.
He is within his powers to not enforce directives from the governor.
These directives are not duly enacted laws.
Newsome’s lockdown rules are not Laws the sheriffs and police are bound to enforce. Their job security is the only reason to enforce such tyranny. Sheriffs’ job security does not depend on Newsome or any mayors.
So a “real” police officer follows orders unquestioningly?
He should finish the job and put the gun in his own mouth then.
Every law-enforcement officer must make decisions to enforce certain laws and not to enforce other laws. Let us consider a police officer, following a drunken murder suspect, recklessly driving a stolen car. Our police officer notices a couple of jaywalkers and a different car take a rolling stop at a stop sign. Does the police officer stop and issue a citation to the jaywalker? Or does she continue the pursuit of the suspected murderer, drunk driver, reckless driver, and car thief? Almost every police officer will ignore the criminal jaywalker and failure to stop completely at a stop sign to pursue the suspected murderer.
Similarly, law-enforcement agencies make decisions about priorities here. Will we spend our Thanksgiving staking out houses, searching for proscribed celebration, an untested edict of dubious authority and constitutionality, or will we bust a bunch of child molesters, car thieves, arsonists, and domestic assailants (of the real, physical, violent variety) against whose crimes the legislature already passed laws, authorizing sentences of years at hard labor in state penitentiary? Will we go on lockdown patrol, or will we answer citizen calls? To most sensible law-enforcement agencies, this question results in an easy decision: pursue the felons, answer the telephones, no time left (or jail space or openings on the court docket) for anything else.
But yet if they go after BLM and Antifa when they riot they are considered “racist” and need to be defunded.
The left would love to have nationalized police force.
That's news to me. Care to explain?
I like your idea. Even the attempt might send Cuomo into terminal meltdown.
But they aren’t laws. Isn’t that rather the point? Since when does local law enforcement even have the authority to enforce the rules and regulations of a state agency? Am I wrong in equating a mandate with such rules rather than with a law passed by legislation?
“I don’t want a law enforcement officer who says, ‘I’m only enforcing the law that I like or think should be enforced.’”
What about the Democrat governors, mayors, and district attorneys who allow rioting, looting, murdering, and burning? They are the ones who are choosing which laws to enforce.
He needs to hire socialist workers to enforce his lockdown.
They’re Law Enforcement Officers, not Royal Edict Enforcement Officers.
Cuomo has his own unconstitutional orders confused with the law.
Gee Andy, maybe your pronouncements are not the law..... ever think of thank?
Actually, if they are LAW enforcement , then they have no business enforcing edicts that are not LAW.
Clueless, Killer, cuomo.
