This week will be dominated by a Blue Moon, the second full Moon of the month, which rises at dusk on Saturdays Halloween. It will be the first full Moon to do that since 1944. However, before we get treated to a Halloween Hunters Blue Moon, our satellite will glide close to the bright red planet Mars. Its still so bright because it was recently at opposition, the closest to Earth that it gets.
The weekend also sees the opposition of Uranus, the seventh planet from the Sun, which will just about be a naked eye sight for those lucky enough to be under spooky dark skies this Halloween.
Theres also a new comet in town! See below for details.

What do an Astronomer, and a Proctologist have in common? They both make a living looking at Uranus.

Uranus will be located by the constellation Cetus.
Per Wikipedia:
“Cetus may have originally been associated with a whale, which would have had mythic status amongst Mesopotamian cultures. It is often now called the Whale, though it is most strongly associated with Cetus the sea-monster, who was slain by Perseus as he saved the princess Andromeda from Poseidon’s wrath. Cetus is located in a region of the sky called “The Sea” because many water-associated constellations are placed there...”
