IOW - nobody with the virus seems to be wearing masks - if only we could mandate full-time masks and maybe institutionalize those who refuse in some nursing homes.

Pastor J.D. Farag has recently stated that masks and 6 feet of "social distancing" (why not 5' or 7') are designed to program the populace into accepting Satanic rituals and practices.

He may not be wrong.

“The mask doesn’t protect the wearer from Covid.”

Facebook memes say it does

And 99% of these 85% are too stupid to understand that wearing the facemask below the nose is useless.

Must be something to this. I wore a mask once for all of 10 minutes. Never got covid that I know of.

Is it theoretically possible to test masks for virus particles stuck to them to see if there is human DNA that can be tested and whether or not said virus particle came from the wearer or from another person?

************

My best attempt at an answer..which nobody has done so far.

I think maybe. I’m not sure just how large a DNA sample has to be to have enough to be tested. Years ago, t was a fairly large saample, and the whole thing would be destroyed by the testing process.

More recently though, other testing procedures have been developed that can tae a very small sample and multiply it into one large enough to test, plus leave some for later use.

In the former case, the bac of a postage stamp or a cigarette butt could be enough, but would be destroyed by the process.

Newer tests make it possible to use an oral swab (q tip) and have plenty to spare. I think, based on my limited knowledge, it should be theoretically possible. The inside of themask should provide a sufficient sample to isolate the DNA of the wearer, the ooutside should have enough to test if it has enough the virus can be positively identified.

I may be completely wrong too...but I think it should be possible. They can test a really small sample these days.

So, aerosol contaminated with c-19 sit in your rag/mask etc while you, with added effort, suck air through the fabric, and exhale moisture into the fabric....

Sounds like what a home inspector tells you when you have have mold and mildew growing in your improperly ventilated and vapor barriers crawl space....

Continual respiration of fouled air.

Otoh, what happens when that big ol aerosol particle
Is inhaled into your primary sinuses and is stuck on a mucus membrane?

Your immune system slathers it will mucus and WBCs go to work, or not....

I agree 100%.

I saw a video a while back concerning some research being done about the spread of aerial particles and “microdroplets”.

They put 10 people in a room the size of a typical school classroom, and had one of them cough. Using alternate light sources and high speed video, they followed the cloud of microdrops produced when the person coughed. It showed up red. It started as a few smallish clouds around that person, and in 10 minutes migrated all around until it completely covered the whole room from about waist level to a foot over everyone’s heads.

This had nothing to do with a mask, just the spread of the moisture produced by one cough, mostly in microscopic droplets, which condensed into smallish clouds then floated around the room, partialy dissipating until it was one big thin cloud.. covering the whole room.

Then they opened a window. The whole thing whooshed out the window, it looked like something in a Roadrunner cartoon. About 3 seconds and it was completely gone.

This implies that in any commercial building like Lowe’s or wally world, with 20 to 30 foot ceilings and the AC unit it takes to handle that volume of air, even if someone infected does cough, it is likely to be sucked up and transported out of the building very quickly, it won’t have time to float around and permeate the building.

Many places are also using ultraviolet units to kill viruses as well. All air that goes through the AC unit is passed throough the ultrviolet unit, any pathogens cannot survive it.

I’d like to see what happens to the smoke if you lit a cigarette in one of those places. Given the AC unit is pretty much always circulating, my guess is it would not stick around long, same as anything lighter than air floating around from a cough.

From what I’ve read, the chances you will become infected by COVID just by passing someone in the aisle at the grocery store are pretty slim. Generally you have to remain in a confined space with inadequate ventilation for several minutes, some say as long as 10 minutes.

As you said a mask won’t stop a virus, that’s why the doctors dealing with Ebola patients wear a hazmat suit with a helmet and a cannister type filter on each side. And sometimes they still end up getting it. If a person wearing an ill fitting mask just blows it out the sides, others around that person are still at risk, the microdroplets still float around all over hell and a half acre. Never mind the fact that the virus itself is much smaller than the pores in the mask to begin with...

Sure the mask may absorb those...what happens when you constantly adjust the thing, take it off and use it again in the next store a half hour later, don’t wash your hands all day...then in some cases use it again the next day...

Why don’t I see hazardous waste disposal containers in every store I go to for the masks everyone takes off? Why dont I see Fauci and others constantly warning people do not play with your mask. Take it off with latex gloves and put it in the disposal receptacle...oh yeah there’s not one...

There is another agenda here...

The issue is, the virus is riding on a 1 micron sized aerosol particle. It doesn’t float around in air as a “naked” virus. It has to be on the aerosol droplet (deceptive word).

The mask stops those. In both directions. If you’re infected and exhale, yes, a lot of virus will line the inside of your mask. That’s what it’s supposed to do. Stop it. You’ll wash that away or throw it away.

The issue of it going out the sides is of course there, but it won’t have much forward velocity. The 6 ft spacing then deals with the issue, certainly diluting it, and the guy next to you in a mask . . . it won’t get in.

Politically, no question, when people see masks on people they think virus. They think . . . if I’m going to the store I need to get in and out fast. If they see a mask they think . . . no way I’m going to sit in a crowded theater for 2 hours. Yes, seeing masks hurts business.

But it’s the only defense we have and it is not useless. That’s political preference in the other direction.

I don’t know

My deal is that people moved around while polio, German measles, etc were about - and survived.

They did not work. The aerosol went in different directions and hung in the air. The point being is that masks do not work in containing aerosol which is the medium that Wuhan uses to get around. The slightest of breezes from an air conditioner, fan or even a door closing or someone just walking by is enough to spread it. Masks will prevent droplets from shooting at someone but so will someone sneezing into their elbow or turning their head.

Then they opened a window. The whole thing whooshed out the window, it looked like something in a Roadrunner cartoon. About 3 seconds and it was completely gone.

And when did you ever hear frequent ventilation of rooms advocated?

Meanwhile, one thing (42% obese) America needs to do is try to be in far better shape, not overweight, and with a lot of exercise, some good food (and at least a Vitamin D supplement here) and regular good sleep - and pray. Thus even if you get sick from a contagious disease (80 percent of which are transferred by touch [1]) you most most likely will recover and with lasting resistance against reinfection[2]. Immune cells for common cold ( hundreds of strains exist) may even recognize SARS-CoV-2.[3] It is even held that in general, a child exposed to colds and viruses earlier in life will develop a stronger immune system and is less likely to become sick in his or her later years. [4]

And in sharp contrast to what we see for other respiratory viruses, like influenza, a new study from the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle says "the novel coronavirus is most likely transferred through “super-spreader” events, and that 80% of those who test positive for the virus never infect anyone else." "The study shows most people who have COVID-19 are highly contagious for one to two days, and it is usually before they are showing symptoms or know they are infected with the virus." [5]

Most virus’ are spread by touching your face and especially your nose and eyes. Guess where most of the mask touches?

The virus is not spread by touching your face any more than a computer virus is spread by physical contact with a computer or mobile device (neither crawl), but in both cases a "port"of entry is required, and in the case of humans, this is usually by infected air (roughly analogous to wireless malware transmission) getting inside the mouth, nose or eye, or doing so via an infected item (80 percent of contagious diseases said to be transferred by touch). Thus if an infected mask transmits the virus to the interior of such a port then one could be infected, likewise to your hand and then to your mouth, nose or eye. However, the frequent "don't touch your face" scolding - as if the virus enters thru skin - is not logical.

I see some people constantly readjusting ill-fitting masks. It sort of defeats the purpose.

See post above.

So this tells me you are MORE likely to get coronavirus if you wear a mask.

It’s not about individual particles. It’s about quantity.

Every human on earth by now has probably inhaled a single Chinese flu virus. It got exhaled or failed to attach or whatever.

There is way too much talk of age and comorbidities. Truth is lots of old people who are very sick have tested positive, had some symptoms and walked away. How? Their initial dosage was not high. A high enough initial dose will kill a 22 year old (did you know 20% of total deaths from Covid have been < 65 yrs old, 20% is a lot).

Masks will reduce the initial dose. That’s what saves life. Even if it were naked virus, filters are defined by 95% stoppage. 5% would get thru, and that’s a lower dose than otherwise. A totally encapsulating PPE would let some individual 90 micron virus particulate get in. 1 won’t kill you.

That’s because the time you have the mask off is when you are indoors with other family members, or you get your food handled by people in the food service, many of whom interact with many people per day or even per hour. Not only that, but outdoors you actually get sunlight and germ killing UV radiation.

But only 15% of people who DIDN’T wear a mask (and were even MORE exposed to the same people that the masked people were) got coronavirus. This tells me that if you wear a mask most or all the time you are almost 6 times as likely to get covid-19 than other people who aren’t mask Nazis.

Well if you are sick and with a mask on for prolonged periods, it’s likely that you are inhaling your own germs back in ranging from TB to COVID-19

Not only that but outdoor air disperses your exhaled breath very effectively.
