Savannah Police say one man is facing charges after throwing an unknown object and pointing a gun at a group of protestors Saturday afternoon.
34-year-old Fredrick James of Decatur is facing charges of aggravated assault and reckless conduct.
Police say about 30-40 protestors gathered in the intersection on Bay Street in front of city hall around 5:45 p.m. Saturday and laid down in the intersection blocking traffic, resulting in cars having to drive around them. One male driver drove up beside them and threw out a smoke grenade.
This led some of the protesters to run away while others began attacking the mans trucks with objects and their fists.
As a result, the driver got out of the vehicle and pointed a gun at the remaining protestors.

By the time officers arrived the crowd and protestors had dispersed but the driver, who was identified as Fredrick James, 34, of Decatur, was soon located.
He was charged with aggravated assault and reckless conduct. Opinion: Its completely within his rights.
Id prefer to have drawn and remained at the low ready position instead of on them, but it did the same job.
I think he handled it just fine.
It is sad that it has literally come down to this, we as humans sure have jumped back in time with having to defend ourselves against these so-called Peaceful Protesters! Time to shut down these Terrorists!
My opinion is dont lay in the road where cars drive (and horse buggies buggy) and also dont bash in vehicles. You never know who might be armed and could pop a cap in you. And also, its rude and pathetic.
Okay there was no reason for the guy to toss the smoke bomb. There was plenty of room to drive around the idiots in the street. Should the police have cleared the streets, yes, but they didn’t. Does the guy have the right to protect his property once attacked, yes. But he precipitated the whole thing with the smoke bomb. The problem is the cops are derelict in their duties which then lead to this type of confrontation.
The truck driver should get charged with being stupid and released on his own recognizance. And the protestors should be arrested and charged with trespassing and obstructing a major thoroughfare, and released on their own recognizance. And the police need to be told to their job or find another profession.
I hate mop attacks!
In Florida, that is now a felony

That's because, typically, there's not a 'link' to a video posted a the site. A video, unlike a hyperlink, has a lot more to it than just a URL.
What are the laws regarding smoke grenades? I thought they were all illegal.
States need to clarify laws on obstruction of roadways and empower drivers with clear rules for self-defense when trapped by these illegal protestors.
Not that calling my commie No.VA delegate will do any good, but I will put it out there.
you do the same as me with no round in the chamber. It takes less than a second to cock if I need too.
Cuomo is unhinged
do not see why they are illegal in any state, no different from letting off smoke bombs for the 4th
So, again, criminal cops arrest the person trying to protect himself and criminal DA charge the person trying to protect himself while letting the criminal attackers.go free.

No. The prosecutor mayor and chief of police are not protecting the citizens.
Perhaps they are paid off.
Perhaps they are incompetent.
They need to be removed from office roughly and imprisoned tried and punished for their betrayals.
A reasonable person would assume any firearm, even one that winds up being a toy or unloaded, being pointed at them is a lethal threat.
Rule 1- all firearms are presumed loaded.
Rule 2-don’t point it at anything you do not have a lawful reason to destroy.
Rule 3- if confronted unlawfully with acts pertaining to rules 1 & 2, you are likely lawfully entitled to use your own firearm to defend yourself.
