A superbolide was recorded flying over the states of Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina, Brazil on October 1, 2020.
Trajectory Preliminary analyses show that the very bright fireball began to shine at about 89.5 km over the rural area to the east of Caxias do Sul and travelled north, at 16.9 km/s (60,900 km/h) at an entrance angle of 44° to the ground
The bight meteor disintegrated during 6 seconds, easily overcoming the full moons brightness and finally exploded at an altitude of 22 km over the city of Vacaria, also in Rio Grande do Sul state.
A superbolide is a super luminous meteor that shines brighter than the full moon. In this case, the space rock was so luminous that it turned the night into day in numerous areas, even turning off streetlights in some cities.
Giant Meteor 2020!
Great video, thanks.
Wow!
And cool graphic.
Good compilation! Good video!
Wow, that was a big one! Great video.
I caught a pair of them last year on my Dash cam.

That was cool.
I’ve actually witnessed two super bolides, one in full daylight the other just at dusk. They are simply awesome. The one at dusk occurred just after the city’s street lights had turned on. It was bright enough to shut them off again temporarily. Unforgettable!
That should make the Satanists happy. I wonder if they will go into the middle of them for a marshmallow roast.
That was a dandy alright!
Super link! Many thanks.
That is a great video. Go to the 45 second mark and watch until about the 50 second mark. Put the viewer on full screen. What do you see at the 48-49 second just above the bolide?
Something shining just overhead....like a rocket taking off, above.
Looked like a comet.
Whatever it was it sure appeared to me like it was moving upward. At a pretty good speed.
Thanks; watched it a few times: internal camera lens flare.
Was it? It made a great artifact. Just after it appears and begins to move up there is a flaring effect under it that looks like propulsion.
I’m going to go with ‘Heaven’s Gate late departure caroming off of celestial bolide.’ lol
That shimmer is the rock’s shock wave. Really does make a stunning image, though.
But, notice it isn’t visible on any of the other cameras
True but I figured different angles could explain that.
Anyway, it was fun to spot a UFO even if it was debunked in less than an hour.
