After tweeting out news of his intent to run for the presidency this fall on Sunday, rapper Kanye West sat down for what Steve Forbes says was a 4-hour interview with reporter Randall Lane. In the exhausive interview, West provides all the details about his reasons for running, his views about President Donald Trump and Joe Biden, the fact that he believes he has been chosen by God to lead the country and his belief that a COVID-19 vaccine would be the biblical Mark of the Beast.
The article on the interview can be found in full at this link.
Go read it youll be glad you did, regardless of your views about Mr. West.
And heres the thing about this: Whether you take Kanye seriously or consider his candidacy to be a joke, you should not doubt that, if he really does choose to mount a campaign this year, he will have a significant impact on the ultimate outcome.
As you watch the DC insider talking heads on your television assure you that its all just a joke, that West is not at all serious, that he will end his lark in a few weeks, and how could anyone imagine that Kim Kardashian West could ever become First Lady, remember that those exact same talking heads made the exact same dismissive comments in 2015 about Donald Trump and Melania Trump in the weeks after he announced his own candidacy.
One quote from West in this interview really stands out to me: Im not saying Trumps in my way, he may be a part of my way. And Joe Biden? Like come on man, please. You know? Obamas special. Trumps special. We say Kanye West is special. America needs special people that lead. Bill Clinton? Special. Joe Bidens not special.
Whether we want to recognize it or not, Americas presidential politics have dramatically shifted, and that shift started with Bill Clintons candidacy in 1992. Clintons victories that year over 30-year DC veteran George HW Bush and four years later over 30-year DC veteran Bob Dole started a shift away from campaigns in which some old hand of the DC establishment roams around the country giving boring speeches detailing his 30-point plans to address every imaginable issue.
Thats what Elizabeth Warren attempted to do during the Democrat primaries, and we saw how well that worked out for her.
Clinton didnt do that. Clinton was all about talking points and image he had no more than 5 overarching messages composing 25 words or less that he repeated throughout his campaign, over and over and over again. Much of his campaign was based on pushing his image of being young, good-looking, a carouser with women and a guy who played the saxophone on the Tonight Show. To the extent he actually addressed issues, he lied through his teeth about them, and that only made him more of a bad boy who was sexually appealing to the women, who voted overwhelmingly for him.
Obama was all about Roman columns and huge crowds in big stadiums repeating nostrums about hope and change and promsing to transform this country, a line we now see the pathetic 50-year DC hack Biden attempting to parrot from his basement.
Then came Trump, a complete outsider who had never sought a public office in his entire life. Trump didnt have a detailed plan to address a single issue, other than to build a wall on our southern border. What he did have was image: The image of being a wildly-successful real estate developer, the image of being the guy who spend a decade saying Youre fired! on NBC, the image of being a bad boy who had gone through three wives. And, like Obama and Clinton before him, he knew how to communicate in terms that common, ordinary Americans understand.
Thats what our presidential politics are today.
Democrat voters knee-jerked back to the old DC veteran Biden not because hes who they really want, but because pollsters and party leaders kept telling them that Biden had the best chance of beating Trump. But ultimately, Biden is Bob Dole without Doles sense of humor and status as a war hero. He is not going to be our next president.
If you dont think Kanye West will have tremendous appeal to many independent voters and tons of Black voters, then you really do need to pay more attention to what has been happening in our country over the last 28 years.
That is all.
PPP funded campaign.
My take. Because of events, Kanye was put into a position where he couldn’t publicly support Trump, without getting “cancelled” himself.
So he’s doing the next best thing, trying to help Trump by peeling off Biden voters.
But, as Dennis Miller says, That’s just my opinion, I could be wrong.
B I G L Y !!!!
Celebrity presidents will continue in 2024, when Dwayne the Rock Johnson is elected
Yes, West candidacy can only be good for DJT. It will such off far more dem black votes than Republican. Just as Jug Ears twice elected Clintoon. Send West some money come Oct if he is still punching.
DB’s summary of Trump’s 2026 campaign is rather lame, simplistic and off the mark.
I’m very skeptical about this.
So now we see why he needed to be a preacher. Times of evil not seen since creation are about to unfold.
Kanye loves GOD and aint afraid to say it
I think that’s unfair. I would vote for the parrot over Biden.
Parrot/Mynah 2020 = They’re saying what you’ve been saying for years

African Grey vs Biden. African Grey for the win.

You’re right about Kanye being likely to spew some absolute masterpieces of world class twaddle.... AND, I don’t see Mrs. West as First Lady material...
But, the Dem vote will get chopped down.
Also and most importantly, it WILL demonstrate to Liberals, the world and to everyone else, just where the numeric standing of American minorities puts them in the scheme of things.
That’s great for everyone concerned. THEN maybe American minorities will get a more realistic, mature and practical outlook of how US politics works and was MEANT TO WORK!
Thats when real progress can be made for them and for the US altogether. It will cut the ground out from under that demeaning and prehistoric sham the DNC calls an agenda
I look at the woman and I see someone who thinks what she says is sacrosanct.
Well, it ain’t.
And from THAILAND???
“I dont see Mrs. West as First Lady material”
That’s another issue that could make things ... entertaining? His in-laws are a freakshow by any standard.
Kanye will get the. You ain’t black vote.
I think you’re right, dfwgator. It’s sound analysis.
Kanye really has no ambition to be President. He would rather be the King-maker and have broad influence.
Early on, when he elevated Candace Owens, he basically told her to deliver the “facts”.
Kanye is pretty busy with his own business and promotions.
Good luck getting on the ballot in fifty states in the next 3.5 months.
So he's calling his party "The Birthday Party" and has said his running mate will be Michelle Tidball a "a biblical life coach," from Wyoming.
Says he is "taking off the red hat" but doesn't care if he costs Biden votes. Said he backed Trump as a protest and because Trump is pro-God and because he likes Trump's hotels especially the sax music in the lobby.
He mentions the fictional country of Wakanda as his model for government.
He also says this "I would run as a Republican if Trump wasnt there. I will run as an independent if Trump is there." Seemingly indicating he will indeed seek the GOP nomination in 2024.
Says Planned Parenthood is the work of Satan. I'm not sure how he feels about homosexuals but we know a lot of Blacks profess social conservative views but are unwilling to vote Republican. Possible real potential here in sucking votes from Biden, which would endear him to Republicans. I'm skeptical it would be a lot of votes but it doesn't need to be alot. We'll know if the rats are scared if they start trying to claim he raped somebody or try to have him shot.
Right now there is still a lack of much coverage, obviously many still doubt his sincerity.
Clear to me, this is a trial run for experience for 2024.
Do not underestimate him. People said “Trump didn’t have experience in this or that.” Anyone can gain experience, esp. if you have money. People said, “Oh, Trump is flighty.” Yeah, but when he focuses on one thing, he does it.
This is a win/win/win, just as I said in my article last week.
Supporters of his will have to write his name in on the ballot in their states. That is no small effort to have any impact. It could so dilute the Democrat vote as to allow Trump to win California and other blue states.
“.... AND, I dont see Mrs. West as First Lady material...”.
Maybe not. But I’ve seen Kim, Mrs. West if you please, on TV discussing Kanye’s new role as preacher of the Gospel. She comes across as very settled, mature and gracious; with great respect for what he’s doing, attending his meetings. Totally obedient and committed to his ministry. FWIW. Far be it from ME to ridicule.
