Terrifying chart shows how Covid-19 patients who end up in hospital may be almost certain to die if they have a vitamin D deficiency

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...

Indonesian experts analysed hospital records of 780 people who tested positive 98.9% of Covid patients defined as vitamin D deficient — below 20ng/ml — died Yet this fell to just 4.1% for patients who had enough of the nutrient SACN will review existing scientific evidence on whether vitamin D lowers risk Public Health England and NHS regulator NICE are doing a separate review

John, 9th March https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W5yVG... Patterns of COVID-19 Mortality and Vitamin D: An Indonesian Study (30th April)

Vitamin D as a Risk Factor

Adjusted for confounds Vitamin D insufficiency, 7.63 times more likely to die Vitamin D deficiency, 10.12 times more likely to die P less than 0.001

Vitamin D supplementation to prevent acute respiratory tract infections (15th Feb)

Vitamin D supplementation was safe and it protected against acute respiratory tract infection overall.

Disparities in the risk and outcomes of COVID-19 https://assets.publishing.service.gov...

No mention of vitamin D

https://www.theguardian.com/world/202...

Guardian, Exclusive!! Scientific Advisory Committee on Nutrition (SACN) Began work last month (May) Considering recent evidence on vitamin D and acute respiratory tract infection Evidence will be considered on specific population groups

National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (Nice) Conducting a “rapid” evidence review on vitamin D “in the context of Covid-19”

Adrian Martineau, Professor of respiratory infection and immunity

“Vitamin D could almost be thought of as a designer drug for helping the body to handle viral respiratory infections,”

“It boosts the ability of cells to kill and resist viruses and simultaneously dampens down harmful inflammation, which is one of the big problems with Covid.”

Higher levels of melanin in the skin lead to lower levels of vitamin D creation which are exacerbated in countries which have less sunlight. This can cause immune systems to be weaker

Ethnicity

https://assets.publishing.service.gov...

Vitamin D and health Annualised mean serum 25(OH)D concentration was higher in white adults, 45.8 nmol/L Asian, 20.5 nmol/L Black, 27.7 nmol/L 10 μg/d (400 IU/d) proposed for the general UK population (aged 4y and above) For serum 25(OH)D concentration less than 25 nmol/L (10ng per ml)

Scottish Government

https://www.gov.scot/publications/vit...

Vitamin D: advice for all age groups Published: 3 Jun 2020

Everyone (including children) should consider taking a daily supplement containing 10 micrograms of vitamin D

Specifically recommended that groups at higher risk of vitamin D deficiency take a daily supplement.

All pregnant and breastfeeding women

Infants and children under 5 years old

People who have low or no exposure to the sun, for example those who cover their skin for cultural reasons, are housebound, confined indoors for long periods or live in an institution such as a care home

People from minority ethnic groups with dark skin such as those of African, African-Caribbean and South Asian origin, who require more sun exposure to make as much vitamin D

Guidance from Scottish Government

10–15 minutes of unprotected Scottish sun exposure is safe for all.

Once sunscreen is correctly applied, vitamin D synthesis is blocked. Staying in the sun for prolonged periods without the protection of sunscreen increases the risk of skin cancer.

Too much vitamin D may be harmful

Daily supplements at the recommended amounts will be enough

Avoid daily high dose vitamin D supplements

More than 100 micrograms for adults and children from age 11

More than 50 micrograms for children age 1-10 years

More than 25 micrograms for infants under 12 months.

Indian protocol

60,000 units (1.5 mg) per week for 6 weeks

60,000 units per month for 6 months

I have been taken 10,000 units daily and my level is 87. I do not get enough sun because I burn easily and sunscreen blocks the benefit. My doctor said 87 is high but not a problem and within the limits.

If you know your level and desired level, there’s a way to calculate a weight-based dose. If you’ve never looked, GrassrootsHealth has a lot of info on their website. I believe that’s where I saw the dose calculator.

I’ve done their fingerstick test and got my level up to 70, which I prefer during this pandemic.

“More than 100 micrograms for adults and children from age 11”

I take 375 micrograms per day. The main reason people say vitamins don’t work is because they listen to people like this and don’t take enough of whatever vitamin it is to make any difference.

Zinc, vitamin D3, vitamin C, and others, every day, keeps the coronavirus away.

No, I am not a nutritionist, no I don’t play one on TV, but I can be one on the Internet.

B12 liquid -—> methylcobalamin is what you want.
Tablets do not work . It has to mix with your saliva to work .You hold it under your tongue for max benefit .

15k IU per day for me, blood level about 90-95 ng/mL. Definitely does lots of good. Google Dr John Cannell or Vitamin D council. He claims 100 to 130 is a great range. Be sure to take it with synergistic nutrients such as vit K2-mk7 and magnesium.

Yes, I also take 200 mg with food of vitamin K2.

Other benefits: reduction in age related joint pain, exercise stamina and incredibly, regaining height shrinkage.

I’ve been taking D3 vitamins since the epidemic started (though probably not necessary since I work outside anyway). Might it explain why blacks are more susceptible to the disease since they produce less Vitamin D than whites.

5000 day for 17 years. No flu or colds in that time. I doubled up when the CCPV was known to have reached America. I probably had the virus along with my wife, daughter, SIL and grandkids in early March. SIL has tested positive for antibodies. All of us felt as if we had something mild. It only lasted a few days for the others and I only had dry cough and sniffles for a day.None of us felt we needed to annoy the doctor. CCPV seems to have gone around here previously in late January and early February. Many other people were mildly sick with odd symptoms. Now I hear that perhaps there were two bouts of the disease before we got it bad enough here to be named in late March and April. Now I hear that yes, there were earlier rounds of a milder form of it and that the current "upsurge" is an effect of much more widespread testing and is much milder.

If mostly this thing is an annoyance rather than a fearsome pestilence then it is going to be known to affect only a very few folks unless everybody gets tested and lots of those desultory coughs and sniffles turn out to be the Dread Disease itself.

My last test was in normal range but my doc suggested I begin a 2-5IU supplement in January. So far so good. I also quaff a liter of tonic water for the small quanine dose and take an “over 50” vitamin dose plus zinc. So far so good.
