Terrifying chart shows how Covid-19 patients who end up in hospital may be almost certain to die if they have a vitamin D deficiency
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...
Indonesian experts analysed hospital records of 780 people who tested positive 98.9% of Covid patients defined as vitamin D deficient below 20ng/ml died Yet this fell to just 4.1% for patients who had enough of the nutrient SACN will review existing scientific evidence on whether vitamin D lowers risk Public Health England and NHS regulator NICE are doing a separate review

National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (Nice) Conducting a rapid evidence review on vitamin D in the context of Covid-19
Adrian Martineau, Professor of respiratory infection and immunity
Vitamin D could almost be thought of as a designer drug for helping the body to handle viral respiratory infections,
It boosts the ability of cells to kill and resist viruses and simultaneously dampens down harmful inflammation, which is one of the big problems with Covid.
Higher levels of melanin in the skin lead to lower levels of vitamin D creation which are exacerbated in countries which have less sunlight. This can cause immune systems to be weaker

Vitamin D and health Annualised mean serum 25(OH)D concentration was higher in white adults, 45.8 nmol/L Asian, 20.5 nmol/L Black, 27.7 nmol/L 10 μg/d (400 IU/d) proposed for the general UK population (aged 4y and above) For serum 25(OH)D concentration less than 25 nmol/L (10ng per ml)

Vitamin D: advice for all age groups Published: 3 Jun 2020
Everyone (including children) should consider taking a daily supplement containing 10 micrograms of vitamin D
Specifically recommended that groups at higher risk of vitamin D deficiency take a daily supplement.
All pregnant and breastfeeding women
Infants and children under 5 years old
People who have low or no exposure to the sun, for example those who cover their skin for cultural reasons, are housebound, confined indoors for long periods or live in an institution such as a care home
People from minority ethnic groups with dark skin such as those of African, African-Caribbean and South Asian origin, who require more sun exposure to make as much vitamin D
Guidance from Scottish Government
1015 minutes of unprotected Scottish sun exposure is safe for all.
Once sunscreen is correctly applied, vitamin D synthesis is blocked. Staying in the sun for prolonged periods without the protection of sunscreen increases the risk of skin cancer.
Too much vitamin D may be harmful
Daily supplements at the recommended amounts will be enough
Avoid daily high dose vitamin D supplements
More than 100 micrograms for adults and children from age 11
More than 50 micrograms for children age 1-10 years
More than 25 micrograms for infants under 12 months.
Indian protocol
60,000 units (1.5 mg) per week for 6 weeks
60,000 units per month for 6 months
So, hiding INDOORS was precisely the right thing if you want to DIE.
Important new data on vitamin D supplements in the fight against CV.
My Vitamin D supplement is Florida Keys sunshine. About 4-6 hours a day outside!
I’ve been taking 10,000 units/day of D-3 for 4yrs, along w/ 25 other Rxs/ OTCs, on Drs’ orders.
I’ve been on 16000 IUs (8 little gelcaps) per day for a year. My D level is 104, right at high (not dangerous) level, though medicine has no idea what toxic levels are for humans. It’s the closest thing to a fountain of youth.
Sunshine is best, unless one is fair skinned as these individuals are susceptible to skin cancer and premature aging issues. I have enough native American DNA that it isn’t a problem for me, but I know many who have skin cancer. And I had a friend, an avid fisherman, who died from skin cancer. For these folks, the supplement is far safer.
5,000 units of D3 for me over the past many, many years....in addition to sunshine.
I also take a daily whole foods multi-vitamin of mega dose levels, too.
I take 5,000 units/day of D3 with K. I double the D3 if I feel a cold coming on.
I have to thank Jim Rob, FreeRepublic, and the people contributing here for teaching me 3 things as Covid-19 was starting in America.
1. Most Americans have a Vitamin D deficiency
2. Fat people have a worse deficiency because Vitamin D is fat soluble
3. Vitamin D is necessary for a healthy immune system to combat disease
Two months ago I bough some Vitamin D with K2, and have been taking 5,000 IU every other day. Many people take it 5,000 IU every day, but it seems like a lot. I know some doctors say you need 4,000-6,000 IU daily, and some say that is too much.
As a fat person, should I be taking 5,000 IU daily? I still can’t figure it out
But boy oh boy! I am sure grateful for FreeRepublic and grateful to the knowlegeable people here who taught me I should take Vitamin D supplements with K2 for my vitamin deficiency.
This is important even if Covid 19 goes away. I will be taking Vitamin D supplements for life, so thank you all so very very much.
I like Mega-Man's for a multi. It has the daily zinc too.
I read this here 10 years ago, my SO and I have been taking 10,000 units daily ever since and have not been sick at all. I'm 68.
and people produce less in winter in the northern hemisphere because of less sun and less sun exposure
its never been a surprise people get sicker in winter and less vitamin d is a real factor
Three of my other OTCs are a multi-vitamin and 1,000 units of Vitamin C, and 60mg of Zinc..
“Ive been on 16000 IUs (8 little gelcaps) per day for a year. My D level is 104, right at high (not dangerous) level...”
15k IU per day for me, blood level about 90-95 ng/mL. Definitely does lots of good. Google Dr John Cannell or Vitamin D council. He claims 100 to 130 is a great range. Be sure to take it with synergistic nutrients such as vit K2-mk7 and magnesium.
Best to consult a health professional who really understands nutrients and is willing to collaborate on health
Is there a dose when someone can say it’s not enough? I take 100 MCG (4000 IU) per day. Hope that is enough.
Sunshine turns cholesterol into Vitamin D. Win win.
Been taking D3 and Zinc Sulfate every day now for at least 10 weeks now..
C as well
Just bought time-released B12 today because i read a thread about it yesterday concerning my recently acquired Tinnitus.
I too have learned much from the posters on FR. Thank your Jim Robinson, and ALL contributors here, who take the time to share much vital information with your fellow FReepers!
Several more life changing supplements I'd recommend are:
CoQ10
Astaxanthin
Probiotic
Consider giving these to your older pets too, after adjusting the dosage by body weight. We give it to our 12 yo pup and it has really made a difference in his health and energy level.
