Monday News Roundup: de Blasio’s Light Touch, St. John’s Church Burns, and a Philly Phiasco
DB Daily Update ^ | David Blackmon

Maybe this explains the Mayor’s “light touch” order to the NYPD. – It’s kind of hard for the police to do an effective job quelling riots when their Mayor’s family members are a part of them.

That’s the situation we have in New York City, where Marxist Mayor Bill de Blasio’s daughter, Chiara de Blasio, was among 345 rioters arrested Saturday night. So, if you’re wondering why the rioters in NYC have been allowed to pillage the city largely unmolested by law enforcement, know that the Mayor has a big conflict of interest.

Mayor de Blasio's daughter, Chiara, arrested at Manhattan protest

You could never make these Democrats up.

Speaking of Democrats… – According to the latest Democrat/Corrupt news media narrative, you are supposed to look at scenes like this and admire the “peaceful protesters” who stole the possessions of this homeless man last night and set them afire underneath the I-35 overpass in downtown Austin, Texas.

Big League Politics @bigleaguepol Rioters cheer as this homeless man’s belongings are set on fire in Austin.

This is heart wrenching.

Embedded video 9,950 4:56 PM - May 31, 2020 Twitter Ads info and privacy 6,685 people are talking about this These “peaceful protesters” are, after all, “honoring the memory of George Floyd” by torturing this homeless man like your pet cat tortures lizards in the backyard before he eats them. And if you don’t see it that way, the Democrats and their media toadies will call you a racist.

That’s the truth.

Speaking of fires… – Antifa thugs in Washington, DC set fire to St. John’s Church, a national landmark at which every U.S. President since James Madison has attended services, last night. The church sits adjacent to Lafayette Park across the street from the White House. Thankfully, fire fighters were able to get to the scene and put out the fire before the church burned to the ground.

I love this sentence in the USA Today report linked above: “Peaceful protests continued to be marred by violence.”

See what they did there, keeping up the false pretense that these are “peaceful” protests in which only few people are committing acts of violence and mayhem? That has not been true of this growing, Democrat-led civil war since Wednesday, when Antifa arrived and the city began to burn.

Wow, a rare honest news report sighting in Philadelphia of all places. – That most endangered of species, a semi-honest news report, popped its head up last night at NewsRadio KYW AM 1060 in the City of Brotherly Love. The sub-headline to the online story reads, “‘There’s not a cop to be seen’: Peaceful protests outnumbered by looting, crime”.

Philly was the scene of one of the most bizarre episodes of the week on Sunday. Near the intersection of 52nd and Market Streets, the police lined up about 2 dozen police vehicles along Market and left them sitting there unmanned for hours as they assembled blocks away to prepare to enforce the 6 p.m. curfew. Very predictably, looters and thugs arrived and began burning and demolishing the vehicles, with nary a cop to be seen. I watched for about 30 minutes and counted more than a dozen police SUVs and cars destroyed.

Chaos Erupts in Philadelphia as Rioters Destroy Line of Police ...

What a fiasco.

Meanwhile, in Chicago… – I know this is hard to believe, but, after another night of utter chaos in the Windy City, Chicago’s dimwit Mayor may actually be seeing the light. In a rare moment of actual lucid though, Mayor Lori Lightfoot said this to a gathering of reporters last night: “Let’s put the blame where the blame squarely belongs, on the people who decided that they were gonna choose this moment, in an organized fashion, to loot and pillage and burn and destroy. That’s the group that we need to be focused on.”

Yes. Exactly. Though she couldn’t bring herself to say the word, that group has a name, and it’s name is Antifa.

This should have happened 2 years ago, but better late than never. – Speaking of Antifa, on Sunday afternoon, President Trump issued the following tweet:

Donald J. Trump ✔ @realDonaldTrump The United States of America will be designating ANTIFA as a Terrorist Organization.

759K 11:23 AM - May 31, 2020 Twitter Ads info and privacy 370K people are talking about this Attorney General William Barr later expanded on that theme, clarifying in a statement that DOJ will now pursue Antifa members, organizers and funders through “our existing network of 56 regional FBI Joint Terrorism Task Forces (JTTF).”

The AG went onto say that “The violence instigated and carried out by Antifa and other similar groups in connection with the rioting is domestic terrorism and will be treated accordingly.”

To be perfectly clear, this DOJ action is not the same as when the Department of Homeland Security formally designates a group like ISIS as a “terrorist organization.” This DOJ designation means that Antifa will be pursued in largely the same ways that the federal government has pursued Mafia organizations over the years. That means Treasury, the IRS, RICO and an array of other efforts to put these seditious clowns in prison.

A reminder that Antifa isn’t just nerds living in their grandmother’s basements. – It’s also nerds working at law firms. In New York City, a furloughed associate with the law firm Pryor Cashman was arrested for throwing a molotov cocktail at a manned police vehicle. A second lawyer was also arrested for the incident. The two thugs were released on bail and have a court date scheduled for today. Amazing.

Guess what we aren’t hearing anymore? – I’m old enough to remember when all the Democrats and their corrupt media toadies spent their entire days issuing platitudes about washing your hands, social distancing, wearing your mask to the grocery store and staying at home otherwise. Now, they’re all putting out tweets bragging about how they’re contributing money to pay bail for the Antifa thugs so they can get back out on the streets and do some more burning and looting.

I was forwarded a link to a terrific piece written by a blogger named Regie Hamm that expresses my feelings about utter hypocrisy of the “stay-at-home” crowd now lending monetary support to these gigantic crowds of rioters who observe none of those Wuhan Virus restrictions.

Here’s an excerpt from the piece:

Okay, so I’m officially done with being told where I can go and how many people I can go with.

I’m officially done being told I can go to Wal Mart but not to church.

No more “I’m a nurse, so …” posts or “You’re not wearing the mask to protect YOU, you’re wearing it to protect ME,” or “The church needs to show the world TRUE compassion by protecting its most vulnerable,” or “our grandparents went to war. All you have to do is stay home and watch Netflix…” memes allowed.

I’m officially done with HCQ study links and “If you think this is like the Flu, you’re an idiot,” links, and “There’s just no way we will ever be back to normal until we all get vaccinated,” links.

I’m done with comments threads that drag on and on about mask wearing and how it works in Japan because they’re just a more civilized society than we are and if wearing a mask bothers you, you’re part of the problem, blah blah blah.

I’m done with people parsing out every single word uttered in the air that might question something scientific or raise a medical concern about an unintended consequence of an extended lockdown.

I’m officially done with simply bringing up the fact that suicide rates are skyrocketing and every hack/wannabe comedian in cyber world making that same dumbass joke about hoping they don’t “catch the suicide.” Yes – we get it. It’s not an infectious disease. ROFLMAO

I’m officially done with social distancing. I’ll stand as close to you as I have to, to get to the string cheese. And I’ll walk any direction I damn well need to, to get down the aisle to the maple syrup. Sorry, grocery store. I don’t read your little traffic rules anymore – not now.

Go read the rest of it – it’ll make your day better. Promise.

That is all.

I watched for about 30 minutes and counted more than a dozen police SUVs and cars destroyed.

I bet they were the oldest vehicles owned by the Department. Whoo-Hoo! New cars for all the cops!!

I normally support the cops but they aren't stopping the riots. That's their job, and they are failing. Instead, they round up their cars and leave them as sitting ducks for the rioters to predictably destroy them. Sounds to me like the cops are working the angles so that this works out well for them and screw everybody else.

I wouldn’t blame the cops. I suspect the orders are coming from the politicians.

"The AG went onto say that “The violence instigated and carried out by Antifa and other similar groups in connection with the rioting is domestic terrorism and will be treated accordingly.”

So... action, or just the sound of bagpipes somewhere on the other side of the hill?

Maybe one, maybe the other. Time will tell. Personally, I'm hoping for, and leaving the door open, for the former.

Loved his list of things he was “officially done with.” I think a lot of people are feeling this way. The way the left reacted to the rioters revealed what an utter scam this whole lockdown was...and the fact that the left knew it all along.

Yeah, all those 'light touch' orders from the rat politicians are doing so much to restore order and civility.
