Anyone remember these?
They've been off market for years. My Mom cured everything from a cold to chicken pox with this stuff. We all took it. It is QUININE.. similar to the malaria drug they are testing for the Pelosi (China) Virus. Quinine is the generic form of the brand-name drug qualaquin, a medication used to treat uncomplicated P. falciparum malaria, a specific type of malaria.

Six Cold and Flu Medicines youre Not Taking Today (And for Good Reason) In History & Culture / 27 January 2015 Smithsonian Insider
There was another one. 3. Capsules of Cinnamon and Quinine
Sold around the 1900s, these tablets claimed to be for the relief and cure of influenza and colds. Cinnamons active chemical cinnamaldehyde is said to help reduce inflammation and fight bacteria and fungi, which would certainly come in handy when getting over a cold or the flu, and some people still take it today. Quinine is now used to treat malaria, as it kills the parasites living in red blood cells.
INTERESTING how quinine got banned from so many popular medicines.
"In 2006 the first "new" monopoly that was created by this FDA process was for the malaria drug quinine sulfate. This left only Mutual Pharmaceutical Company to manufacture quinine in the US (pdf). While malaria is not a disease that affects many people in the US, it is big business worldwide. Malaria causes 300 to 500 million infections and over 1 million deaths each year. Treating this disease with quinine used to cost pennies a day. In fact, the British turned this treatment into a cocktail, the gin and tonic (quinine water)." https://www.techdirt.com/articles/20110324/02181913605/fda-suddenly-bans-drugs-that-have-been-market-decades.shtml~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ [snip- link for pictures.. 4 Way Cold Tablets]
Mercurocrome is one antiseptic solution I’ll never forget! I cut my hand at the base of the palm, almost amputationg my thumb. It was a very deep gash and my mom poured it directly into the wound. I think I fainted from the pain! I never wanted that to be used o me again, although I recall getting my scraped knees painted with it! My hand healed without incident, but that was a nightmare experience for a 5 yr old!
Hi Dave! Hope you are well.
What was mercurochrome supposed to do?
That’s why you need a lot of gin :)
Not bad for an old 81 year old. Need some foot surgery when our HMO opens up.
How are you doing?
