I was definitely not at Woodstock. At the time, I was listening to music from the 1950's and also the '40's and '30's, and my record collection was starting to grow. I had discovered doo-wop music, although it wasn't called that at the time, and was grabbing every doo-wop record that I could find. KWIZ, a radio station on the AM band that played oldies and had a conservative outlook, was the soundtrack of my life.

The Hong Kong Flu, also known at the time as A2 Hong Kong '68, was in the news in late 1968 and early 1969, but by the summer, it had been long forgotten even though it would apparently be around for another year. The bug missed me, even though I got a couple of bad colds during those years.
