Medical Microbiologist: 5 Crucial Questions About Our Response To COVID-19

Sucharit Bhakdi, Professor Emeritus of Medical Microbiology at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and a prolific and much-cited expert in his field, has published an open letter to German Chancellor Angela Merkel along with a video addressing some of its contents.

In the letter, dated March 26, Bhakdi poses five questions about the COVID-19 pandemic and the government’s response to it which, he says, “have not been answered sufficiently so far, but which are indispensable for a balanced analysis.”... Unofficial translation of the letter below, followed by Bhakdi’s accompanying English-subtitled video, in which he elaborates on his five questions:

The letter is a long, but interesting read and well-written. The five questions are very good. I haven't watched the video.

"My question: Has there already been a random sample of the healthy general population to validate the real spread of the virus, or is this planned in a timely manner?"

That's the 10 Trillion $ question.

1) My question: Did the projections distinguish between symptom-free infected and actual, sick patients — people who develop symptoms?

2) My question: What is the current occupancy rate in intensive care units with patients with diagnosed COVID-19 compared to other coronavirus infections, and to what extent is this data taken into account in the further decision-making by the federal government? In addition: Has the above study been noted in the previous plans? Of course, the following must also apply here: Diagnosed means that the virus also plays a significant role in the patient’s disease state, and that previous illnesses do not play a major role.

3) My question: Has there already been a random sample of the healthy general population to validate the real spread of the virus, or is this planned in a timely manner?

4) My question: Has Germany simply followed the trend towards general suspicions of COVID-19? And: does it intend to continue this categorization uncritically, as in other countries? How should one differentiate between real corona-related deaths and accidental virus presence at the time of death?

5) My question: What efforts are being made to inform the population about these elementary differences and to make people understand that scenarios such as those in Italy or Spain are not realistic here?

For example, one interesting point in the letter:

“The terrifying situation in Italy is repeatedly used as a reference scenario. However, the true role of the virus in this country is completely unclear for many reasons — not only because points 3 and 4 apply here, but also because there are exceptional external factors that make these regions particularly vulnerable.

This includes the increased air pollution in northern Italy. According to WHO estimates, this situation resulted in more than 8,000 additional deaths per year in the 13 largest cities in Italy alone, even without a virus.”

I’m not sure we can trust WHO with these figures given their track record, but who knows? A broken clock is right twice a day.

I had no idea pollution was so bad in parts of Italy, but then the North is where the Chinese factories are. What is it about China and pollution?

I’ve asked that question about random testing for several weeks now....

And that Brix woman claims she is “data driven”.

An important medical statistic was released in Europe several days ago.

The average number of deaths in Europe - from ALL causes - can be predicted each week, based on past death statistics and mathematical models.

Last week, the “expected” number of European deaths - from ALL causes - actually fell BELOW the number that was predicted.

If thousands of people were dying ONLY from COVID-19, the weekly death rate - from ALL causes - should have surged higher.

This clearly suggests that many people in Europe who die “with” COVID-19 are not dying “because of” COVID-19.

On question 3 - the IgG/IgM test (showing developed immunity to the Chinese virus) has only recently become available. The developers probably are still ramping capacity.

"The developers probably are still ramping capacity."

Shouldn't the CDC/NIH/FDA been developing a fast response technology to be able to ID the biochemistry of pandemic critters and then ramp up high volume testing devices in extremely short order?

Isn't that really their job?

My question:

Is the CCP this subtle that they could release a biological agent just deadly enough to spook the west into destroying its economy, or did they just get lucky?

1. Once it was released, they had little clue how it would work, so they played it safe...by letting it spread, and then they showed the world that it thought it was VERY serious. They blocked off tunnels, roads...rounded up people, sealed their doors shut, built that "wonderful" hospital in 6 days...

China knew the Left™ would see this as a WONDERFUL opportunity (or suggested to them that it would be an opportunity) to destroy the economy by acting as China did, to some extent. They kept working it while cleaning up their country and then pushing an online offensive in hopes of making Trump look bad (with help from 1000s of online info warriors and our own Deep State and citizens so desperate to rid the country of The Orange Menace.

2. Or they released it on purpose. Either way, they must PAY.

China theorized that all of western society's populations were so lazy and weak-minded, as to panic and destroy themselves. Apparently they were right. For the actions being taken now are the result of the panic that enveloped the nation, and all of western society, right out of the gate, coupled with the complementary panic that engulfed all stock markets worldwide.

However, they have done themselves much harm as well. For it isn't over until it's over.

The politicians have been so fear-panic-traumatized by their medical bureaucrats, that they cannot appreciate quiet well mannered logic. Merkle will make no response to the esteemed author’s inquiry.
