As usual, it appears the experts advice of maintaining social distancing of 6 feet is inaccurate. It needs to be at least 4 times that or more like 26 feet according to a study conducted by MIT.
The study, which was reported by the Telegraph, found that viral droplets expelled in coughs and sneezes can travel in a moist, warm atmosphere at speeds of between 33 and 100ft per second (ten metres to 100 metres).
This creates a cloud within the atmosphere that can span approximately 23ft to 27ft (seven metres to eight metres) to neighbouring people.
It has also been warned that droplets, which contribute to the rapid spread of covid-19, can remain suspended in the air for several hours.
So perhaps its just as well that we are in day 14 of our little towns shutdown. The resorts would normally have the town packed to the rafters for late spring skiing this time of year. Instead its a ghost town.
Lower Main Street, Park City, UT early last week
Upper Main Street, on Friday; more pedestrians getting a little exercise than cars
So just how bad is it in Summit County UT, home of Park City? On a per capita basis, apparently pretty bad. Not quite as bad as New York City which by all accounts is the U.S. epicenter - a word that, like anarchy, has come to mean something altogether different from its original sense but still bad. Aside from New Orleans parish and 5 New York counties the worst Wuhan coronavirus clusters in the US are in ski towns.
Four counties Blaine County, Idaho; Summit County, Utah; and Eagle County and Gunnison County, Colorado lead the nation in per capita rates of confirmed cases outside New York and Louisiana.
Note: excludes New York City where there are 8.7 million people and nearly 30,000 cases or 1 in 292.
All you can tell from this is that the Wuhan coronavirus likes to party and ski. Gunnison County, Co is home to Crested Butte, Blaine County, ID, Sun Valley, Eagle County, CO, Vail and Summit County, Park City.
There are only 42,000 residents here but 1 out of every 312 of us has been confirmed positive for the WuHu Flu. So with that kind of saturation weve decided to hunker down a bit more than we have been. Accordingly, we placed our first ever grocery home delivery order yesterday. Of course the earliest they can deliver is Wednesday afternoon, but Im hardly in dire need of anything as I keep a well stocked larder all year round you know, in case of emergencies like cootie attacks.

So if you need me Ill just be sitting here, at home, wiping down the cooties and waiting for the world to end.

Hey Staten Island’s not on the list.
Time to go for a drive :)
Just watch someone exhale the junk from their electronic cigarret for a demonstration of how far it can extend.
Sheesh. How far can people carry this viralphobia? What if another strain of virus pops up next year or sooner? America. We have to admit that there was an overreaction. That doesn’t mean to be cavalier either. But this could have been handled by isolating people at risk and closing the borders. This has gone too far.
Cooties are lice. They don’t spread the Wuhan virus, but they do carry typhus, a disease of the past that recently emerged as a threat when a bureaucrat in Los Angeles came down with it. So if you’re in LA, steer clear of cooties.
Nothing from the eastern ski areas, closest to NY.
Perhaps the poor snow winter and the early closing of most mountains prevented hot spots there.
Preach it.
Socialist distancing.
I wonder if temperature changes in ski resorts lead to more coughing and sneezing, thus spreading the virus more than normal.
All the more reason I’m on this side of the screen and you’re on the other.
Several years ago, I suffered from the herpes virus. No, not the one you get from letting the ‘little head’ lead, but shingles. I had chickenpox as a child and the virus remains in your body for the rest of your life. As I had legally lost ownership of my house, I was VERY stressed. Being over stressed, one is more susceptible to such a viral recurrance.
The CCP-Coronavirus possibly (likely?) came from a bio-lab likely operated by the PLA. Is it possible that this virus may just go dormant but reactivate when one is older and their body is less capable of defending itself?
From a wholly Godless gubmint, like that of the CCP (Chinese Communist Party), the loss of a large number of seniors, who ‘contribute’ nothing but are net ‘users’ of scarce resources, this is a net gain, from the POV of the CCP! In addition, the destruction of the Western economy is a desire of the CCP. As the West is aging, having a dormant virus like the CCP-Coronavirus, is FANTASTIC, from the POV of the CCP. They may not ‘win’ now, but they look longer term.
I have not heard if the virus just goes dormant in people. It could be the case that, if a bioweapon from the ChiComs, it could go dormant, only to revive when a person becomes more susceptible to the virus.

On Mythbusters last night they dealt with sneezes. The best they were able to do was 39 f/s and 17 f distance (Jaime). They said the 100 f/s and the 30 f distance were busted.
I’ve had the herpes virus all my life too. Back around 1999 I had the weirdest virus flare up. It started with a cough, then a sore throat, they my eyes were infected and they were blood red. Then it spread to my mouth and throat and the throat was filled with painful blisters. I tried llycine then had to take a syrup to try and kill the burning pain in my mouth and throat. This all went on for over a month before it finally cleared up............
I had mild shingles but, it was the worst thing, as it went on and on for a month. As the CCP-Coronavirus is so contagious, we must hope and pray that it DOES NOT go dormant and awake when one gets older and less healthy. THAT would be a destructive timebomb!
