Early Tuesday morning, President Trump continued to signal that it is his intention to re-open the U.S. economy and get Americans back to work sooner rather than later. Repeating yesterday’s theme that the government can’t afford to implement a draconian “cure” that is worse than the China Virus, the President issued the following tweet:

We can do two things together. THE CURE CANNOT BE WORSE (by far) THAN THE PROBLEM! Congress MUST ACT NOW. We will come back strong!

For an investment community hungering to see a bottom reached in the stock market indexes, this is a crucial moment in time. There is no way the markets can find their bottom when they have no certainty – or even any real idea – about when business might resume and start getting the economy fully back on-line.
Markets were already soaring today on the prospect of the Democrats caving in and allowing the Senate stimulus measure to move through the process. The President’s move to set a firm target date for beginning to get the economy moving again will only serve to support that positive sentiment among investors longing for some good news.
As usual, President Trump’s sense of timing yesterday and today was impeccable. Be glad he’s your President.

Yeah... because certain parts of the country can go back to normal next week, whereas the coastal areas might want to wait an extra week to make sure the medical infrastructure in their area is ready.
So what has to happen between now and then to cause Trump to open things up by April 12? And what about cities and states that have announced lockdowns that extend past that?

I think the Rat Governors are going to see their states tank even more if they refuse to start reopening.

Exactly. He’s gotten the supplies out, there seems to be a pretty effective medication for most cases, and there’s a vaccine in trials. The latter must be pretty successful, since results were supposed to be in right around Easter but the still-ongoing trial must be showing promise. If so, it would be used to prevent a resurgence of the virus in the fall.

I don’t believe it. If he does this against the advice of the medical experts and his Surgeon General and it backfires, he’s finished.
Easter is too soon. NYC is a total mess right now. The population density there is a real problem. 30,000 people per square mile is almost double the next worst city which is San Fran.
This has to be done very carefully. In stages and in certain places. It can’t be, and doesn’t need to be, all or nothing.
They said at the Town Hall that this would be at the discretion of each state based on their situation.
