We all know that we are a country that is based on freedom and diversity but the left has gone too far!
In 2004, the Al-Islah Mosque in Hamtramck, Michigan, US, attracted national attention when it requested permission to broadcast its call to prayer. This upset many of the non-Muslim residents of the area, which has a large and long-established Polish Catholic population. Proponents pointed out that the city was already subject to loud bell ringing from the local church, while opponents argued that the church bells served a nonreligious purpose. Later that year, the city amended its noise regulations to limit the volume of all religious sounds.
Yesterday the City Council of Paterson, New Jersey has approved an ordinance that allows local mosques to publicly broadcast the Muslim call to prayer. The ordinance specifically allows for the Muslim call to prayer (the azan or adhan), church bells, and “other reasonable means of announcing religious meetings between the hours of 6 a.m. – 10 p.m. for duration not to exceed five minutes.”
On Wednesday, the City Council voted unanimously (with two members not voting) to grant preliminary approval to the Islamic call to prayer being broadcast over loudspeakers in the city. This followed the swearing-in earlier this month, on the Qur’an, of course, of Paterson’s new police chief, Ibrahim “Mike” Baycora, the first Muslim police chief in an American city.
Celebrate diversity, right? Sure. The problem is that it is by no means certain that this diversity will celebrate us.
A few questions have to be asked here.
1. Do I want to hear this broadcast in public, five times a day, beginning at the crack of dawn and hearing a version that I have no control over?
2. Do parents with young children, trying to keep them asleep for as long as possible, want to hear a crack-of-dawn broadcast?
3. Does the increasing number of individuals who work remotely from their homes want to have their workday forcefully interrupted with amplified, scheduled intermissions echoing a call to prayer that can last a few minutes?
4. In the age of trigger awareness and sensory issues, it’s tone-deaf to not realize that some people will be triggered by the more aggressive call to prayer, while others dealing with sensory issues like discomfort from loud noises, will struggle to be in high stimulus environments with calls blasted over a loudspeaker.
So the Islamic call to prayer is just like church bells. Sure, and informed, devout Muslims are just Methodists with hats and beards. The reality, however, is not so rosy. The Islamic call to prayer, now to be sounded three times a day in Paterson, New Jersey (there are five daily prayers, but two of them fall outside the 6 AM-10 PM parameters of the ordinance), declares:
Allah is greater (Allahu akbar, four times)
I testify that there is no God but Allah (Ashhadu anna la ila ill Allah) (twice)
I testify that Mohammed is Allah’s Prophet (Ashhadu anna Muhammadan rasul Allah) (twice)
Come to prayer (Hayya alas salah, twice)
Come to success (Hayya alal falah, twice)
Allah is greater (Allahu akbar) (twice)
There is no God but Allah (La ilah ill Allah) (once)

I heard this on my last visit to Israel. Loudspeakers everywhere playing much louder than the need to be. It’s not a call to prayer, it’s a shout of dominance. You cant get away from it.

Would Hamtramck or Patterson permit the church to announce, in lieu of bells, the phrases “Jesus is greater than Allah and Mohammed”, “Come to Mass and take Communion to save your heathen soul!” Five times a day so everyone has to hear it? Hmmm? No they’d call it Hate Speech. If your head hurts now, well, it should.
Some cities have over the past few years. And the Islamic Cult’s call to prayer should never be acceptable anywhere in America. Never. Isn’t it more like ‘fighting words’?
Pretend it isn’t Islam, pretend it’s a giant beat box blaring out rap music every morning at 4:30am. It is NOISE POLLUTION. It has nothing to do w/hating the religion. It WAKES YOU UP, why should that be allowed?? I’ve been in IndoNESIA, as Obama put it, and heard the “call to prayer” he loved so much, and it wasn’t “the most beautiful sound I’v heard”, it was just awful, and intrusive as all get out. Horrid.
This hasn't been my experience. I've been there multiple times, most recently last April. The only place where it's noticeable, aside from Muslim towns, is in or near the Old City in Jerusalem. I suppose if you really try to listen for it elsewhere, you might be able to hear it but it's really not a problem.
Paterson is another story though. It's only a few miles from where I live. I damn well better not hear it.

Well put. In the fascist bigoted islamophobic Southern backwater I live in /s, the local mosque started blasting their calls to prayer RIGHT AFTER 9-11!!
Then about a week later, it fell completely silent and hasn’t been heard from since. I think they got some electronic reminders that our state is chock full of Bible thumpin’ good ole boys with guns in their pickup trucks & on their persons.
Defiantly, the local imam posted a photo of the highrise I live in with the caption “Ours, someday!” City police monitor his Facebook so he probably got a visit.
They’re just begging for a separation of church and state lawsuit, aren’t they?
I hope they have a warehouse of replacement speakers!
Or, just maybe, the warehouse suffers a stroke of, ahem, insurance term, ‘jewish lightning’.

MUSLIM CALL TO PRAYER IS REALLY A CALL TO KILL INFIDELS.
So if one person complains it is offensive to them, does that mean it will stop. That seems to work for snowflakes when it comes to Christmas music or other macro aggressions or micro aggressions.
Paterson fell decades ago; it is a notorious sh!thole, which is why terrorists from halfway around the world were trafficked there.
Noise pollution should be a law in the city
