Because there are zillions of people from communist China in USA at our colleges, in our electronics and computer and biotech and research labs , and just buying up more USA housing and commercial properties, etc. — and constant travel to and fro. Either directly or now if direct flights are suspended then otherwise. Some precautions seem prudent - without need of any exaggerated fears, the virus is dangerous.

Maybe because it is a serious threat. The Chinese Communist Party has quarantined 10s of millions of people. I seriously doubt they’d do that for a type of flu. The Japanese have kept thousands on a cruise ship in Yokohama harbor. The US government has instituted mandatory quarantine for the first time in 50 years. These are all clues that maybe, just maybe, we’re not being told everything about this virus.
