Hopkins will be called as a old straight white male who is unaware of the social problems facing the world.
Translation/code for: I am a straight white male with privilege who politics don’t affect because I will be rich and free from police violence no matter what because I am white and I have advantage/structural power.
Always loved him!
It’s always a sign of high intelligence and learning to have a sense of humor about one’s own lack of knowledge.
I was privileged to grow up around some pretty heavy academics in theoretical physics and propulsion science and I often think about how their “attitudes” about science and knowledge were so different from those we deal with today.
i.e., never once as a boy did I hear the words “THE SCIENCE IS SETTLED!”
Hopkins is smart enough to know how little he knows, but proud enough to separate himself from the pack.
Gotta love it.
While we’re on the topic.. Seinfeld is another classy dude who doesn’t get into politics, even when others try to force him to.
I admire him as well for saying it.
They can have opinions the same as I do, but people are generally smart enough that when I express an opinion to them, they don’t take it at face value and run with it.
People seem to swallow whole crap spewed by celebrities, actors, and athletes without thinking for themselves.
"So when I see all these rock stars up there talking politics, it makes me sick. .... If you're listening to a rock star in order to get your information on who to vote for, you're a bigger moron than they are. Why are we rock stars? Because we're morons. We sleep all day, we play music at night and very rarely do we sit around reading the Washington Journal." - Alice Cooper
Whether his views on politics are left or right he is probably pretty intelligent about it. But he knows it’s not his bailiwick and doesn’t want to let his fame make him appear to be an expert on something he’s not expert in.
Much respect for that.
Ask him about acting and movie making. His thoughts about that would be worth hearing.
That flick was good, but messed up.
There’s one fellow Italian I’d like to be the HELL out of.
And kick him a few time when he’s on the ground.
I’d like to. I wouldn’t. Not advocating violence in any way.
Can't watch anything with three of them, Hanks I can still abide. Add anything with Jane Fonda, Danny Glover, and Dustin Hoffman too. Fonda and Glover for their politics, Hoffman because I just think he's an a**hole.
I liked that flick. Of course Claire Forlani had something to do with it too.
An man and actor of pure class.
Hes a smart actor.
I’ve always liked Al Pacino - thought he did an incredible portrayal in ‘Scent of a Woman’.
I haven’t heard him spouting politics; maybe he’s smarter than these others (?)
“Hes definitely the smartest actor since Anthony Quinn passed on.”
Anthony Quinn was a RABID liberal moonbat!
Read up on him sometime. He reportedly would refuse to work a known Conservative.
He signed up to support every liberal puke cause, and was friends with mob bosses.
I loved his acting, but he personally was a liberal POS.
I’ve never really liked him. But my estimation of him just took a big jump.
He’s an extremely talented actor. My favorite that I’ve seen him in is ‘Remains of the Day’.
Have to agree with Robert Duvall. (Magnificent actor and also wisely circumspect when questioned about his politics.)
