In a conversation with fellow actor Brad Pitt for a lengthy chat for Interview magazine, Anthony Hopkins explained why he seldom -- actually: never -- talks about politics... and why he's not a big fan of other actors talking about politics either. In short: "Actors are pretty stupid."
"People ask me questions about present situations in life, and I say, I dont know, Im just an actor,'" Hopkins told Pitt. " I dont have any opinions. Actors are pretty stupid. My opinion is not worth anything. Theres no controversy for me, so dont engage me in it, because Im not going to participate."
Hopkins was interviewed by Pitt because of the release of his new Netflix movie, The Two Popes, in which he plays the part of Pope Benedict XVI. Although Pitt apparently tried to get some controversial political (or religious) answers out of him, Hopkins refused to play that game.
It is extremely refreshing to see an actor take this position. Sadly, the new generation of Hollywood stars has a different opinion. Take Mark Ruffalo, the millionaire actor who recently endorsed Bernie Sanders. This multi-millionaire (who's reportedly worth $30 million) wrote on Twitter that "its time for an economic revolution. Capitalism today is failing us, killing us, and robbing from our childrens future."

I like Anthony Hopkins even more now.
Hit your mark. Say your lines. Make sure the office knows where to send your check.
Brad Pitt? I ate His liver with some fava beans...
A man who knows his limitations.
Most actors and entertainers use political controversy to provide them the attention their acting talent will not do.
Hopkins doesn’t have to use that tactic.
Then I asked Brad, “What’s in the box?”
No argument there.
Im sure Mark Ruffalo would be just fine receiving his daily bowl of government-provided gruel in payment for his acting effort.
I think he pretty much does make a statement by saying actors are pretty stupid, at least the ones who comment on politics.
He’s definitely the smartest actor since Anthony Quinn passed on.
Successful actors are those who succeed in pleasing producers,
One way or another...
And always have been.
Hello Clarice.
Actors are stupid.
Some of them prove it every time they opine.
Refreshingly Honest.
More than that, he understands on which side his bread is buttered.
There are so many performers that I enjoyed immensely - Whoopi, Barbra Streisand, Tom Hanks, Cher - before they started spouting their ignorant politics. Now I can’t watch them without knowledge of their personal attitudes interfering with and spoiling the roles that they play.
They need to learn something about the importance to a performer of cultivating a certain level of mystery regarding his or her personal life.

Anthony Hopkins <=== Rare SMART Actor
And ironically, one of the loudest voices is De Niro. You would think a guy like De Niro would take a hint from one of his characters in his mob movies. He would simply just shut up. The fact that he's screaming about Trump tells me he's done some nefarious s--t.
Boom!
