NM state senator shocked by DWI arrest: ‘Are you serious?’
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A New Mexico state senator expressed surprise when he learned he was being arrested on a drunken driving charge, slurring his speech as he lay in an emergency room and saying to an officer, “Are you serious? Jesus Christ.”
The comments from Sen. Richard Martinez, D-Espanola, appeared in police lapel video released Monday. Police said he crashed his Mercedes SUV on Friday night into the back of a vehicle that had two people inside stopped at a red light in Espanola, north of Santa Fe.

My ex-brother in law was so drunk one night that he passed out and ran his truck into a tree on the side of the road (totalled it). It was only a few blocks from his house so he walked home and slept it off.
The next morning he called the tow truck (who automatically call the police when a car has gone off the road) and, of course collected the insurance on it.
He told them a deer ran in front of him. It was a rural area.

They won’t apply to him. That is how democrats work — pass laws that are for the hoi palloi not for the lawmakers themselves.

Espanola, of course. We once stopped at the McDonalds there on our way to Chama, and some idiot honked at me after I pulled into a parking space. He apparently thought I had stopped in the drive-thru lane.
