Shooting Down the AR Hype – According to Ted Nugent
With all the negative news about how lethal an AR is, why is it we don’t hear any bad news about shotguns?
Enter the ageless Rock n Roll icon Ted Nugent to set things straight. In a recent episode of Alex Jones’ Info Wars, the rocker Ted Nugent shared his bits about the shotgun that we use to hunt ducks with are often overlooked and how it can be more devastating than an AR-15.

Here are some of the things that Ted brought up about the shotgun:
-If the shotgun was used in these AR shootings the death rate could have doubled.
-3.5 inch 000 buck can bring down a cinder block wall, takes only two shots to tear it down.
-3.5 inch Magnum 000 buck used for backing up bears and lion hunters, each round shoots over 30 pellet. Read the rest of ar vs shotgun.

Hey, if you ever get down to SC, I want to take you out to my gun club. Every Saturday we have a cook out that will make you fatter. However, you will never ever meet a nicer group of right wing gun experts/2A fanatics. I think you would fit right in.

My 870 12 gauge, pistol grip, shot gun hurts my arthritis in my wrist. However, it will hurt my target a hell of a lot more.

...recoil from a 3 1/2” 00 buck magnum shell would probably flatten the average woman."

You are correct. My better half prefers her bi monthly recoil therapy with a 20 ga. I have a Browning 3.5" pump, with magnum loads that I use for ducks and geese. It does have a loud report and kicks like a mule.

Better half fired it one time and one time only.

Rock and roll! Tear it up! Always a good time! I used to burn through a .50 cal ammo can full of 12 gauge reloads shooting trap. 275 rounds IIRC...through a Winchester autoloader...

Mental masturbation.

You wouldn’t do surgery with a hammer.

I’m there with you on the #4 or therabouts for home defense. The article mentions 000 buckshot for bears and lions. I don’t think so. Working in the brush in Alaska I use Brennake Sabot slugs - pretty beefy. Better yet - have an Indian on bear watch duty with a rifle.

Ever heard of a Crossfire? A hideously ugly 12 gauze-over-.223 gun.

My cousin hunts in Africa

Some guides carry Ithaca mag 10 gauge slug loaded.....

.775 caliber from 750 hollow point slugs -1400 grains of solid lead....good luck finding the big ones ...I guess you could make em....federal made em 30 years ago

They ran out of shoulders

A lot cheaper than a 500 nitro gun or ammo

It’ll go through twice the phone book a .416 Rigby will

And I’d be very comfortable hunting any game on earth this side of Mothra with a .416

1400 grains of lead! The Brennake’s have 600 grains - hard to imagine more than twice that! Actually - looking at the design, if they got rid of the stabilizing fin, I bet they could push it to 900 grains. Not sure what that would do with the ballistics though.

I was curious to see what else is out there. Found the following chat from a long time ago where guys get together and make their own 12-guage shotgun slugs.

https://www.shotgunworld.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?f=118&t=132539&start=15

“The 1043 grainers went thru 48” paper (water soaked) on average and 4”paper+bone+ an additional 36 inches of paper (water soaked). Plain paper bullets were undamaged and the ones thru bone showed only peened nose portions back to the start of the truncated cone. I took them to a friend that had a 1000 grain scale and he couldn’t weigh them on it. They survived well.

These are very specialized slugs, for those shooters who can apply them they will be devastating. Recoil will the deciding factor.”

I love recoil thus I purchased a used Ruger No 1 Tropical that left the factory as a .458 Win Mag and was re-chambered in .460 Weatherby Magnum. A 30-06 has about 16 pounds of felt recoil. The .460 Wthby Mag has 116 pounds of “felt” recoil.

Have a few Ruger No 1’s ..... My favorite all round rifle is a .35 Whelen . With careful reloading it’s a perfect caliber to harvest everything from Mule Deer to Moose easily. A pre-64 Model 70 that was my grandfathers is in .243 . Got an elk in colorado with that so called wimpy caliber. I was about 12 years old and we were way up above the tree line. Good memories.
