Nations are like tents. There are small ones. There are large ones. There are tents that are great, and others that are weak and feeble. But, one thing that is certain, all tents are temporary. They usually rot from within. A tent can take so much decomposition and then it collapses.
Our tent is 243 years old, relatively young considering nations like Egypt or Greece or even human history. But, as youth sometimes can be, nations can become complacent and thoughtless, and forget or ignore their heritage. Our country took a turn some time back and it has now become evident that the price may very well be collapse.
The USA was set up as a republic, appears to believe and to act as though we are a democracy, and here is aquote:

If history really is a barometer of the future, which I believe it is, this fact is nothing new.
I would imagine that many of the citizens of the now defunct great civilizations of the past believed their’s would last forever.
The rise and fall of ...., is as predictable as birth to death of the individual.

I’ve said this before and I still think we may see this trend develop in the West.
The Leftist/Progressive adopts/Converts to Islam.
They are natural allies on many levels.
Both reject Truth and Science.
Both seek to destroy Apostates and retain adherents through terror.
Both are totalitarian.
Both advance their ideology through victimhood.
The Left is desperate for something Sacred to coalesce their followers.
Islam needs a political foothold in the West.
If Islam were to relax their LGBT stance and adopt an environmental Justice stance, the conversion of the Left will be assured.
If the citizens of the United States keep on keepin’ on like they have been for quite a few years. . .we could be in for the wrath of God in a mighty way sooner rather than later. If you have read about it in the Bible then you know it is not a pretty thing.
i’d say we are somewhere between apathy and dependance (closer to dependance)
There are a number of reason for the decline of the West.
The loss of God would be at the top of the list.
Our Governments attempt to replace the Family with the State.
Our Governments attempt to remove any and all potential crisis from peoples lives.
The corruption of Science for an Ideology of Uncertainty.
If God doesn’t exist, neither does Satan. This has been the aim of the their efforts.

This appears to be an accurate assessment.
My expectation and hope is the factions under the dem tent will fracture soon. The in-fighting will get worse. They’ve started on Jews, elevated muslims who hate LGBTs and so on. I don’t think they can keep it together.

Many are actually joining the Roman Catholic system, or - as in the case of most persons of latin or hispanic background - it is their cultural heritage.
The Roman Catholic church is both a church and a state. Vatican City is a country.
