Putting down an aggressive hog (400 lbs) doesn't require a heavy caliber rifle. Watch Jim Thomas displays excellent markmanship while taking down a 400 pound wild hog.
What is surprising is that Jim was only using a subsonic .22LR bullet. To be exact he was sporting a suppressed Ruger 10/22 rifle equipped with an ATNX-Sight for night vision. Like a seasoned hunter Jim waited for the hogs to show and loitering at the bait area.
From 50 yards away Jim spots the big hog among others that had been giving them problems on his property in the past.
With great skills Jim puts a .22 round into the temple of the hog and puts it down on the spot. See the rest of .22 subsonic.

I used to work for this old boy that was raised in N Dakota.
When he was 5 his daddy gave him a 22 rifle.
He said he pointed it at the neighbors pig and that pig laid down, he made all the pigs lay down.....
Floyd was kinda an arsehole :)

The 60-grain Aguila subsonics burn filthier than anything I've ever shot except black powder. The carbon residue causes jams in the rotary magazine inside of 20 rounds. The smaller a charge is, the more even the smallest variations affect MV and the Aguila SSS's charge is so tiny and their QC so slipshod that (chronographed) extreme spread in the brick I bought is more than 10% of the average MV. And such substantial variations in MV guarantees vertical stringing. I bought a custom 1:9 barrel to use the SSS 60s in and it struggles to shoot 2-inch 5-shot groups at 25 yards. With any other ammunition it shoots bugholes, so it's not the barrel. The 60-gr Aguila ammunition is crap.
Due to the low velocity and high weight on this cartridge it will tumble and keyhole, but Travis has the solution, a faster twist barrel.
You could have quick swap barrels on the 10/22 take down, but that is not what it was designed for, this is quiet and close with a thump

Did any of the suppressed stuff make it into an Alpha Charlie Concepts video? I’ve seen some of the unsuppressed SSS stuff.

That has not been my experience using the 60gr Aguila. Sure it shoots dirty, so what? I have not jammed my rotary mags after shooting 100s of rounds of 60gr. You are only getting 2+” groups at 25 yards? I shoot 5 shot groups and get many cloverleafs, 4/5 shots under 1”, and maybe a flyer to open it up to 1.5”. For what it is, it works for me.
Most of the time I shoot Federal 22 Auto Match 40gr, and it’s slightly more accurate and consistent. (I buy both in bulk)
But the 60 grain subsonic is meant to be quiet and hit hard. I can ring 18” steel targets at 200 yards all day once the range/holdover is worked out. It really takes a while to get out there, Pow.......ding. That’s good enough for me.
