#Breaking CNN has filed a motion to unseal the names and addresses of the Manafort jurors
Not good enough. He should have said these things, with the baliffs holding the CNN plaintiffs at gunpoint.
Not called Commie News Network for nothing.
Since the jury may have heard of this attempt, the judge owes them a good explanation that CNN is attempting to intimidate them to get a guilty verdict—”Don’t be intimidated!” should be his message.
CNN insists on proving Trump right!
And the back office/boardroom decision makers as well.
“A number of news organizations the Washington Post, New York Times, AP, CNN, NBC, Politico and BuzzFeed filed a motion to unseal all the records that have been sealed so far in the Manafort case.”
Gee, collusion maybe?
from Fox news article about tgreats to Judge Ellis...serious enough to warrant full US Marshall protection.
And from what I read the judge may be all for it. Something about quenching the media’s desire for news.
The judge has already denied the request. Cited his own personal need for protection as a reason not to release this information.
Citizens should be appalled by this tactic, but I bet those over at DU and the like were quite fine with it.
I was thinking more of every CNN employee.
That really would put pressure on upper management.
WTF does CNN have shoved up their ass? They are in fact the enemy.
It is good to hear that the judge won’t go along with it. When the jury hears about the threats and what CNN tried to do then they are going to feel intimidated for sure. They are going to think that maybe some day there names will be released. And if the judge is being threatened then so are they.
And from another post here then it sounds like the jury gets to go home every night. They are not being kept in isolation.
bttt
Yes, thanks. Notably, Judge Ellis expressed concern for his safety and that of the jurors.
CNN's action demonstrates to both current and future jurors that it can present a substantial risk to jurors. Next time it may score with an Obama-appointed judge.
Given what presently appears as a coordinated, renewed assault by the left and others, which has historically included violence, it would seem appropriate for prompt legislation that effectively assures no harm will come to jurors that serve. Without such assurance our jury system itself may be at risk.
Is CNN trying to influence the outcome?
Mistrial? No. The Judge can deny the motion.
However, the status of CNN’s presence in media can rightfully be declared as broadly influential to the public which includes the jurors and the juror’s families.
The Judge should immediately deny the motion and send a note to the jury that the court will not divulge their identities. When jurors adjourn for the day or for lunch, they will be able to tell per the Judge’s note that their family members are in no danger of having their identities exposed.
What CNN has done here is in my opinion borderline criminal.
I didn’t hear of the motion to get the names of the jurors and addresses until shortly after the first note to the court asking for clarification on resaonable doubt.
Just after that the media wanted names.
One of the “investigative journalists” must have drilled down on the fact the jurors were ordering out for salads with Russian dressing!!
I know........
