Okay, I'll say that this started happening after IMDB scrubbed their forum boards -- which I found very useful. The signal to noise ratio was pretty good, but I'm sure they dropped it so's to attract advertisement dollars. Like who wants to invest their money or give advanced information to a website that's likely to get trashed in there forums?
Now what's happening over at Netflix that I find upsetting? Films and television series that are not in English. Now I love asian films non dubbed with just Closed Captioning. And I understand that some people don't mind and that Netflix is trying to appeal to a global audience. But why do they keep it a secret until you try to watch it. I find it irritating and I'm finding more and more titles featured prominently on their front page that aren't in English.
Why can't they make a note in the mouseover info that it's dubbed or CC only and then what country it's from? Their even going as far as taking these foreign films and featuring them in their website Herald space .. the large marquee above the list of films? There's no account option to hide them and I've grown tired of it. I'll be cancelling netflix over this and their cozy deal with Obama.
I was a customer for the last probably close to 15 years, at least 10 and I cancelled it last week because of the Obama-Jarrett thing. My little $10 a month is not going to that.
I too have noticed more foreign films. I have found that if you click on the movie to get more info about it, the last line on the left side under the actors, director, etc says language & will list if its subtitled or dubbed.
Netflix instant watch has been circling the drain for a while and the DVD part will follow. They just aren’t getting the content, they are going to lose Disney and large libraries have been acquired by their competitors. I am really pissed when they finally put some new content up and half of it is crap they produce or half is bollywood crap. I seriously doubt they have that large of a Hindu customer base in America.
Why are you doing business with a company that just put Susan Rice on its board and makes payoffs to the Obamas?
Don’t pay for the rope they’re trying to hang you with.
Streaming internet. watch whatever you want without supporting their agenda.
Obama and Netflix. All I can think of are the scenes in Clockwork Orange.
Last month, I sat and watched a Si-Fi series from Denmark...’Rain’. They had offered the English option but it was one-star in terms of the voices being used, so I switched back to English-subtitles. I have though...it was a pretty good story and will be waiting on season two.
I think the foreign movie and TV series idea is a good idea and at least gives you something different.
when you add the Obamas’s Netflix money to the Penguin Random House money, the ex-President is off to a great start in the race to match the Clintons and their foundations.
the Netflix Dem donor who brokered the deal for the Obamas was, unsurprisingly, involved in the Leonardo DiCaprio deal with its promise of more global warming propaganda!

2012: Hollywood Reporter: Obama Dispatches Former Diplomat to Mend Hollywood Ties and Raise Campaign Funds (Exclusive)
Former Bahamas Ambassador Nicole Avant returns home to help fix the president’s troubled relationship with the entertainment industry. At least three meet-and-greet fundraisers are planned for his reelection campaign...
Nicole Avant, the daughter of longtime music executive and Democratic activist Clarence Avant, was one of Obama’s earliest and most dedicated Hollywood supporters — raising millions for the president’s 2008 campaign.
She was rewarded with a plum diplomatic post, which she has now put aside to support the president’s reelection in the city where she grew up...
Avant, with her deep ties to both the Democratic party and the entertainment industry, is being called upon to patch things over and rekindle at least some of Hollywood enthusiasm for Obama.
To that end, Avant and her husband, Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos, will host a major fundraiser attended by first lady Michelle Obama at their Beverly Hills home on January 31...

I agree, they should include foreign films and TV series, just put a mention of the language on the mouse over, or have different home pages. U.S home page and Internation & U.S home page.
I tried watching the dubbed version of Rain and couldn't stand it. I did like Das Boot years ago with subtitles. Some Norwegian films -- all subtitled. But you got it right, subtitled is the best way to go with good non english films rather then dubbed movie of a bad film.
I do not like subtitles/closed caption foreign — especially if they are Netflix productions. If I want to read, I will get a book. One is either reading or watching — not both — so why waste film on something has to be read.
Netflix does add a lot of bollywood type movies and series. Amazon Prime does similar. AP has a lot of old movies that have been sort of remastered for the wide screen. AP also has a lot of Independent movies — most of which are bad acting and poor scripts and waste of time. AP is also bad about initially offering a movie or series as Prime and then switching it to purchase/rental after a few weeks. A while back, AP started allowing users to upload video, so now their listing has a lot of short video junk. And they just raised their annual Prime by $20.
Well now that the Obamas’ big campaign donor has arrange a huge deal for the Obamas to create content they will now have large base from Kenya!!! lol. What a bunch of idiots!! They deserve to lose as many customers as possible!! They’ve earned it!!!
I find the foreign films and TV series a real treasure on Netflix.
CC - I do not care in the least. I find the programs fascinating and quite enjoyable.
Hope they ramp up the Japanese and Korean material to 11.
Obama doesnt even have to pretend to be doing charitable work. They just give him the money. Remember when he had a mansion in Hawaii gifted to him when he was just starting out as resident (I think it was promised to him for after he was out of office)? I wonder what happened to that. Probably one of his smaller homes. Its great how people with nothing get rich off the presidency.
Netflix sucks, unless you like shows with men and women kissing other men and women, and in the wrong order.
I really liked Samurai Gourmet.
you can get rid of most the foreign language stuff by going into your profile and selecting the languages you want for movies.
go to your account settings then hit on the link to profile from there you will be given a list of languages chose English and that should fix the problem.
Their stock is making a ton of money though. I bought a couple months ago and made over 50%.
With the power of computers these days, they really should be able to offer both dubbed and subbed movies. I watch anime and I get that option on much smaller platforms.
Done months ago. No help. The trash dubbed or the trash subtitled movies/tv series has still increased to an unreasonable level.
