A recent op-ed by Timothy Cardinal Dolan explaining that he now believes that Democrats have turned their back on Americas Catholics is a crushing blow to the continued life of their party.
Since 1952 when the first survey of how Catholics would vote in the coming presidential election, Catholic voters have been a true bellwether for predicting the outcome of national elections.
Since that first survey a very firm rule has emerged regarding the strength of the Catholic vote, Simply stated, it is that whenever a Democrat gets 47% or less he or she loses; whenever a Republican gets 49% or more he wins.
In the lead up to the 2016 election an ABC Langer Research poll of Catholics (almost immediately taken down and hidden) showed Donald Trump getting more than 60% of Catholic support and Hillary Clinton at about 37%. The final exit poll numbers showed adherent Catholics voted for Trump 60/40. But in order to dilute the numeric advantage Trump had, the media included casual Catholics. Nevertheless, the media was still forced to declare Trump the winner of the Catholic vote by a solid 52/45 percent.
The value of the Catholic vote cannot be overestimated.
Given the political/religious climate of the times, it was a very significant coup for the Democrats of the 1930s to convince Catholic Church leaders that it was the morally correct thing to vote Democrat.
That advantage held throughout the next 50 years. With the exception of Richard Nixon in 1972, not even the great Ronald Reagan could sway Catholics to vote Republican. Reagan even lost the Catholic vote 39/61 in 1984 while winning 49 states!
The growing and glowing antagonism Democrats have shown toward Catholics, starting with Bill Clinton in 1996, has produced three Republican victories built on the Catholic vote in the ensuing years.
In 2016 when John Podestas emails were uncovered, Catholics recognized that Democrats actually planned to take over the Catholic Church and subvert it. When Hillary Clinton never apologized or disavowed the plot, she lost the Catholic vote.
Now the most important development in Catholic Church/ Democrat Party relations since the 1930s has taken place. Timothy Cardinal Dolan the bishop of the Archdiocese of New York and easily recognized as the leader of the Catholic Church in America has spoken out directly against the Democrats.
In an op-ed essay published in the Wall Street Journal Cardinal Dolan has identified the Democrats by name as a party that has turned its back on Americas Catholics. Who can make a case against what he is saying?
Almost immediately upon taking over as Chairman of the DNC, Tom Perez staked out a very clear position on his partys view of any pro- lifers. He said PRO LIFE AMERICANS, not just PRO LIFE elected officials are NOT WELCOME in his party. More than this, he implied that PRO-LIFE AMERICANS were not even welcome in America.
Moreover, the Cardinal observed that Democrats have continually blocked tax credits for Catholic and other religious and private schools that actually save local governments money in the long run.
As is the case so often when news that is important to the right breaks, Cardinal Dolans pronouncement will receive very little press attention. This will not stop this news from spreading throughout the Catholic Church in America.
It is the beginning of the end of a long romance between the Roman Catholic Church in America and the Democrat party. This will not end well for Democrat.
The democrat party was dubbed “The Party of Evil” in 1989.
It takes awhile for the general public to catch on.
The Catholic vote is shrinking. The main reason the USCCB supports importing millions of 3rd worlders is the big cash per head they can collect from the fedgov for “placing” these people, but they also want to be able to pad the numbers as a percent of the population, if only on paper.
A recent op-ed by Timothy Cardinal Dolan explaining that he now believes that Democrats have turned their back on America's Catholics is a crushing blow to the continued life of their party.
This from a guy who -- along with almost all of the Catholic bishops in the U.S. -- has bent over backwards to put the Catholic leadership in this country at the service of the Democrat Party.
The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops is a business partner of the U.S. government, for heaven's sake.
The Catholic Church ceased to be a religious institution in this country years ago.

Do you recall the details of this? What more beyond forcing nuns to pay for abortion?
...just more Dolamite smoke and mirror tap dancing, he’ll fall in step by the next election.
“What more beyond forcing nuns to pay for abortion?”
—
I thought that the issue was birth control.
.
It can be overstated.
He’s a liberal-leaning Democrat shill and has been for a long time.
He provides very little leadership for Catholics in his jurisdiction.
It’s very easy to not take this guy seriously at all. When push comes to shove, he will quietly align with liberals. It’s not what he does. It’s who he is.
“... is a crushing blow to the continued life of their party.” Not hardly. The democrats still have Catholic leadership of Pelosi, Harkin, etc. This is wishful thinking.
Attacks on Cardinal Dolan here and elsewhere are nothing new. No one has been more disappointed in him on countless occasions than I have been. None of these disappointments means anything. None of these attacks mean anything. What is important is that never before has a Catholic Church leader spoken like this about the Democrats. Hate Dolan; hate the Catholic Church or not this is big.
Those interested can research wikileaks and see what was in John Podesta’s emails. Pay attention to what they say about using front groups already in place to grab control of the Catholic Church.
Thanks for posting that. When I saw this over the weekend I about fell off my chair. I’m still not quite sure what to make of Dolan’s comments. Is he trying to leverage more money or power from the secular power brokers?
I mean, where has Dolan been for the last 3 decades as the Democrats are the Party of abortion. Collectively they boo’d inclusion of God or Israel in their platform in, what, 2012?
So Dolan is just now implying there’s an issue with Democrats.
Nope, something else is going on here below the surface.
I suspect most "Catholics" (in name only) couldn't name their own bishop much less recognize Cardinal Dolan. Cafeteria "Catholicism" is the order of the day.
I wish that were true, but I think the majority of my fellow Catholics don’t give a fig about Church teachings where it may conflict with the religion of liberalism.
That is today's democratic party.
+1
So the Democrat party:
- Enacted Jim Crow laws
- Established the KKK
- Fought against the 1964 Civil Rights Act
- Pro-abortion
- Pro-euthanasia
- Pro-homosexual marriage
- Have been working to force Catholic organizations to provide birth control as part of their health benefits
- Booed God three time at their 2012 national convention
I still don’t understand how practicing Catholics can vote democrat.
Ted Kennedy -- a bloated, drunken, disgraceful slob of a human being -- was given a high-profile Catholic funeral despite his long political career pushing every diabolical abomination that is destroying our nation.
Dolan ought to take off his Halloween costume and find another line of work.
Thanks for posting...

Many many years ago - before you were born - the democrat party stood with working people. Catholics were loyal to that memory. Nice to see they’ve taken the red pill...
