This vanity post describes my fascinating journey towards becoming a semi-cripple for the rest of my life.
A week ago last Saturday I was replacing smoke detector batteries in my home and fell off a ladder
Ive been to war, flew fighters and was a Texas police officer and I make it through relatively uninjured, but falling off a ladder does me in.
Yup. That simple and that silly.
And all my fault.
There is a long recovery ahead, with full recovery not really possible.
I may need a walker, may need a cane for the rest of my life.
Wow, that's impressive. I'm curious, what college did you graduate from and where did you get your fighter jet training and what jets did you fly in combat??
When and how long did you serve and in which branch of the armed forces?
Hope you recover soon...........
Make sure someone’s home - and have your cell phone in your pocket...
I’m impressed... you handled this mess with style... says lots of good things about you. You’re in my prayers...
The Lord, Our God, is holy and is with us at all times.
You are alive and can still glorify Him with all your days. It is all beautiful!
Today was my 114th visit to physical therapy. I am now walking about 100 feet with a cane.
Congress should ban ladder sales to people over 40.
We must do something!
I have some very high smoke alarm that I extended the battery wires down to the ground on. Yeah, it’s unsightly but safer.
I’m only 54 but can’t do ladders because inner ear problems. Man, do I hate relying on others for such things now!
Prayers up for getting older.
Well hell, that’s entirely different! ;-)
Where I worked, we would come in costumes ar Halloween...For a week before Halloween, I would walk around going “ARRRGGGG!!!”
Everyone said I would a pirate....
On Halloween, my wife found some 6 inch rubber sharks...She hung them by thread from a pair of shorts I had and I left my prosthetic in the car...Painted my nub red....And went as a “shark attack victim”....
I won the contest!!!ROFL
Should I ever lose my feet, I’m getting prosthetics shaped like cloven hooves, just for the shear joy of seeing the expressions on the TSA agents’ faces when they make me take my shoes off...
ttiuwp
You had your cell phone and didn’t take a pic of the bone sticking out, tsk.
Seriously though, I hope your recovery goes well and quickly.
Prayers up for you and keep us posted on your recovery
Prayers up on recoery, God bless.
I am truly touched by your post.
Thank you

I had one of those Fibula/Tibia compound fracture thingys too! Mine was over 40 years ago, more in the center of the leg.
You’ve rekindled some unpleasant memories, sir. Praying for you on what will be a hard recovery.
LOL!!!!!
God bless. Good luck.
Thank you sir, very humbling and kind words.
Im just your average zipper-suited Sun gawd.
Seriously, meaning it, I am an American male, an American male that lives the part, not just acts like I am playing a role.
My deceased father was my hero and like others of the Greatest Generation, he sought no glory, he worked hard and was the pillar of our family.
I learned about being a man from him.
All American males have responsibilities and live the part, not act like someone feels a man would act like.
I sent in a FOIA to get a copy of my 9-1-1 call. I think it would be cool to listen to.
Now that is manly behavior. Never give up. Push forward and through to the end.
I am impressed by you.
LOLOL!!
