Here we are, Super Bowl Sunday. I have only watched 2 playoff games all year but I most assuredly will be watching the Super Bowl because, unlike some 84% of my fellow Americans, Im a New England Patriots fan. Worse, for many of you, a Tom Brady fan. Been one since he took the helm as Michigans QB back in the 90s. Hate me if you must, its a Wolverine thing.
It is a shame that something as intrinsically American as a Sunday turf battle has turned into another political battleground. Not just because the NFL welcomed the #BLM premise and antics onto the field; now some of the sports hacks want us to view the annual matchup as another battle in the long wars: Right vs. Left: Woke Eagles, Trump-loving Patriots are on opposite sides of political spectrum.
The two franchises also seem to come from polar opposite ends of the political spectrum, too, setting up a clash between one of the most socially conscious teams in the NFL and President Trumps favorite football franchise.
The evidence, according to the New York Posts Evan Grossman:
Not long ago, Patriots QB Tom Brady displayed a Make America Great Again hat in his locker. Trump considers owner Bob Kraft and head coach Bill Belichick close friends, too, and Kraft was one of the most generous among Trump-friendly NFL owners, forking over $1 million to help fund his inauguration.
Vs:
Contrasting with New Englands deep Trump ties, the Eagles have emerged as one of, if not the most socially active team in the NFL. They have been referred to as the wokest team in the league.
In case theres any ambiguity about the authors virtue signaling his message is how could you possible root against the Social Justice Warriors? But if youre still not convinced heres the Eagles indisputable credential of authenticity and superiority:
The differences between the two teams are striking. While Kraft is a close Trump friend and supporter, Eagles owner Jeff Lurie earned a doctorate in social policy from Brandeis University.
Aside from the statement being a classic example of liberal logic, it is patently silly: Newsbusters appropriate response to this:
Wow! And duh! Lurie is currently running a football team, and Trump is directing social policy at the nation's highest level.
So do as you wish today: watch or dont watch, root or dont root. Just be sure to whip up some Super Bowl worthy chow - nachos, wings, ribs, brats, chili because you have to eat! Im making a batch of my accidental chili: classic chili with ground beef, left over pulled pork, black and pinto beans and a mess of those roasted Hatch chilies we put up and packed in the freezer last fall. Ill post a picture when I finally get it pulled together. And maybe Ill make a batch of those ham and cheese sliders, its going to be a long day. And leftovers are great for breakfast.

The food is literally stacked out of the full kitchen.
It’s the Puppy Bowl to be watched.
More attractive players.
And fewer felons.
We have two choices tonight. We can go to our sunday home bible study or we can go to a Superbowl party put on by a member of our Sunday school class.
We’re doing the former. Let me know how Justin’s concert goes. :)
Those sliders look great! I am just using the SB as an excuse to eat; made beef stew and spinach artichoke dip yesterday, both easy to reheat and all the hard work is done, all I have to worry about is the finishing details.
All political BS aside, people usually root for their local team. Or, in the case of most, go for the money. There’s money to be had today if you’re lucky.
This article is a steaming pile of dung.
Hey MOTUS, first things first, GO BLUE. Now, the Pats are going to win this for two reasons. One, this game pits good (Pats) vs evil (phi and their fans), and good almost always triumphs over evil. Two, The Pats have Tom Brady and the Eagles don’t. Case closed. Pats 25 Eagles 23. Tom Brady will lead the greatest 4th Quarter comeback drive of all time.
When President Trump talked about a shithole, he meant philly, the most corrupt city in America, the cops are crooked, the judges are crooked, the lawyers are crooked and the welfare fraud is at a different level, I'm pretty sure there may be some good ones too.
For sports fans, philly has set a low that even drunken soccer fans in europe can't beat.
The philly 'sports fans' are so awful, that the crooked judges, aided by the crooked cops, set up special courts {think FISA} in the stadiums where they can arrest, convict and jail the rowdy fans without ever leaving the stadium.
I am embarrassed that philly is in the same state as the Burgh.
Dink and dunk. Nfl football is like watching a predictable pitched battle with rules meant to keep scores happening every 3 or 4 minutes. Commercials and now a half hour modern pop song show with jumping actors and pyrotechnics...time for a new thing to hate and eat to.
Perhaps a good study topic for tonight would be the Pharisees.
To hell with the NFL and the Super Bowl. No way will I add to thei ratings so they can disrespect vets, those serving, the flag, and this country
Puppy Bowl here too
Creatures that actually love us, don’t complain, and appreciate greatly their gifts
I’ve dedicated my time to getting things that needed to get done, and I’ll be thanking the bigoted players and their false narratives for the inspiration.
We’re having buffalo wings and I’m not sure what else. I have so much to do!
I watched the last quarter of last year’s game yesterday. Amazing.
I went to a Groundhog party on Saturday (Groundhog Day Weekend, this is Pittsburgh, any excuse to party) and it was a full house of people, so that was my big bash for the weekend. But I’ll be watching the game tonight.
As a 50 year Viking fan, I never root for the team that eliminated us from the playoffs, so you know who I am pulling for, regardless of the politics of the owners and coaches.
I mean, I never understood how anyone could root for a team the eliminated your team from the playoffs, regardless of the sport. What ever happened to good old fashion anger and hate for the competition, and especially for the team that eliminated your team in the playoff?
Any way, as usual I’ll TIVO the Super Bowl as I have been doing for 20 years, then watch it later this evening before I go to bed.
That way I can fast forwarding past the commercials, half time, and all the talk between plays. It will still take me about 1:15 or so to watch the game, but until my Vikings make it to the Big Game, I will never watch the game live, nor do I go to parties where everyone pretends they are there for a game when they only went for the free food and alcohol.
Go Pats.
I like the kitty bowl more than the puppy bowl. I like dogs more than cats, but the puppy bowl is boring. Cute pups, but boring game.
I watched the first Super Bowl with my Dad. I am from Alabama and Bart Starr was a Bama QB for the Packers and I watched the Packers in those days because of Bart, and I rooted for the Baltimore Colts because of Johnny U. I also rooted for the Oakland Raiders because of Snake Stabler being their QB. Three Bama QB winners in the very early days of the Super Bowl. However, I have not watched a Super Bowl now in 4 years. This will be my 5th game missing. I am DONE with the NFL. There is nothing they can do that will get me to watch those punks again. I quit because I was sick to the antics of the fools in the game. But, the flag deniers was the big nail in their coffin for me. I’m done. I will watch reruns of Cops or something after we get home from Church tonight at 7 pm our time. And, you know what??? I DO NOT MISS WATCHING THEM. Didn’t watch a game the last four and now fifth year in a row. Screw the NFL!!!
I am at the hospital a mile from the game. As I wander around here I see the military helicopters flying around all week they have snipers on rooftops. It is the most heavily guarded event in the country except for the presidential inauguration.
I won’t watch the game but will be very glad when all these clowns leave town. They have really screwed up traffic. .
Thank you brother for your comments. We vet and military retirees thank you!!! Go Red, White and Blue!!!
