TOURNAMENT OF CHART-TOPPERS 1970S PING LIST
(This is a temporary ping list, so dont worry!)
OK, we’re down to the end of this round, music lovers!
I have a conundrum, though.
Anyone who has not yet picked/voted, please consider doing so this afternoon. I have a few very tight races, including a tie right now. I won’t say which but I will say all the close ones are on the last half.
If you’ve already voted, don’t bother, unless you skipped some and I’ll let you know if it would help for you to add them.
If someone does not break (or make) these ties, I’ll have to have a quickie run-off, basically just Monday.
Ooooo a runoff would be exciting.
Please see start of thread for Round 2 rules!

You’re wrong on this one:
3 1973 Killing Me Softly with His Song Roberta Flack
5 1973 My Love (Woe Woe Woe Woe, really?)Okay I’ll settle, but for the record I’m tipping the hat to “Maybe I’m Amazed” 1970 Paul McCartney
Killing me Softly was and still is one of the most beautiful songs of that era. 50 extra points if you know who it was written about. No Googling.

******RUN-OFF on ROUND 2*****
We had several close calls, and still ended up with one tie. So I will do a run-off. All are welcome to vote, even if you already did Round 2. Heck, you might change your mind!
Please vote for one song or the other of this pair; due MONDAY, JAN 29 @ 7:00pm Eastern:
3 1975 “Philadelphia Freedom” Elton John

I will have to give “Philadelphia Freedom” the nod over “My Eyes Adored You” in the run-off.
5 1975 My Eyes Adored You Frankie Valli
Thanks for your hard work on this!
Im voting for My Eyes Adored You because it reminds me of someone I once loved.

Or the Rush Limbaugh version, “My Hands Explored You”.
Philadelpha Freedom by a mile, or a whole state.
