But a moment of reassessment is a good time to reassess things for yourself, so I spent this week reading about the lost world of the 1990s. I skimmed the Starr Report. I leafed through books by George Stephanopoulos and Joe Klein and Michael Isikoff. I dug into Troopergate and Whitewater and other first-term scandals. I reacquainted myself with Gennifer Flowers and Webb Hubbell, James Riady and Marc Rich.
After doing all this reading, I’m not sure my reasonable middle ground is actually reasonable. It may be that the conservatives of the 1990s were simply right about Clinton, that once he failed to resign he really deserved to be impeached.

I don't think Obama ever particularly liked the Clintons and resented having to live up to his pledge to support her in 2016. Perhaps Obama was hoping all that time that she would never actually get the nomination. He was probably secretly rooting for Bernie Sanders.
Anyway, his support for Hillary during the 2016 general election seemed lukewarm and he appeared to be going through the motions when he had to speak on her behalf. It was telling on Election Night when it became obvious that Trump would win that Obama called Hillary and basically ordered her to concede. Remember that Hillary had no plans to concede that night and she put Podesta out there to send her supporters home. It was Obama that basically talked sense into her and shortly after that, she made the call to Donald Trump.
Two days later, Obama warmly welcomed Trump to the White House. I think it was not so much warmth towards Trump but private relief that it was not Hillary he was handing the White House over to.
Throughout the Obama Administration, it was still pretty much still the Clintons' Democrat Party and I think Obama has had quite enough of the Clintons. Think about it. In the year since the election, almost nobody talks about Obama anymore. Yet Hillary is everywhere in the media. It's almost like Hillary is the ex-president and that the eight years of Obama never even happened. So yes, I think Obama is sick and tired of the Clintons as are most of the rest of the Democrats.
I agree. There was no doubt about GUILT at the time. The only question in the Democrats minds was “power”. They valued the power to abort above all others. Thus they supported Bill Clinton.
Period.
The saving grace in that whole mess of crap is that Al Gore never got to be president.

All things being equal, including Weinstein being exposed opening the floodgates to expose others, what would the left be saying if Hillary had won? That said, would the media gatekeepers ever allowed the Weinstein story to come up if she had won? Is this all just a new phase in the swamp’s “Never Trump”? On the other hand, perhaps Weinstein being exposed in an effect of what Wikileaks exposed about pedophilia by the rich and powerful. Pizzagate hasn’t been forgotten and won’t be. The entrenched Liberal / Socialist media has never advanced any scandal involving a democrat ever... The best example, John F..King Kennedy. Everybody in the ‘mainstream’ media knew Kennedy was a lech, and even the Republicans knew, but I’m pretty sure that the Republican strategist of the time were likely waiting until the 64 election to expose his perversions.
Lee Harvey spoiled what would have been a glorious defeat of Kennedy... After all, it was 1963 and the man was campaigning in Texas, a state he supposedly didn’t even need to worry about in 1964. My father was always of the mind that if Kennedy hadn’t been assassinated, that he would have lost that election. Given the bombshells we know of that could have been dropped during the final weeks of that ill fated and never run campaign, that isn’t hard to imagine.
Next best example... Bill Clinton. Even though the second term of his presidency exposed how perverted and obviously corrupt he was, the media cheered him on and feminist came to his defence and don’t kid yourself... If Bubba were in office today they would do the same in a heartbeat. The man ordered the bombing of an abandoned pill factory during Monica Lewinsky’s testimony and then he ordered the bombing of an entire country on the very same day that the congress impeached him... It doesn’t get much more corrupt than that. The use of America’s military to change the subject.
And example three... Obama, the death of an ambassador and the the cover up and now the investigation that everybody now knows about, but nobody knew about for five years of his administration, Uranium One.
There is nothing more pathetic and disgusting than the behaviour of the United States media when it comes to their obvious political leanings. And that is what is so glorious about the election of Trump. It infuriates them to insanity that their influence has and is being ignored by the American people. I guess keeping a pervert in office and then electing an incompetent president for two full terms has it’s drawbacks... People can now tune them and their BS out, thanks to the internets.

I am inclined to believe the Never-Trumpers and the Dems are gearing up to make another run at President Trump on a new fabricated sex charge.

Brilliant - give Douthat another 20 years and he may be able to come to the conclusion that there was something vaguely suspicious about the fact that almost every detail and record of Obama’s life before entering the public sphere was hidden, as were numerous aspects of his life afterwards.
Ross Douthat knows nothing. He was 19 years old at the time of the impeachment. All he’s heard is regurgitated RAT pabulum.
