Former President Jimmy Carter spoke out on the current President in an interview out last night with The New York Times Maureen Dowd.
As Dowd writes, Carter sounded eager to work with Donald Trump on North Korea. He said he would even be willing to go there himself:
He said he has talked to Lt. Gen. H. R. McMaster, Trumps national security adviser, who is a good friend, including at Zbigniew Brzezinskis funeral when McMaster asked to sit next to Carter, but has so far gotten a negative response.
I told him that I was available if they ever need me, he said.
In fact, there were some illuminating quotes from Carter on issues ranging from RussiaCarter is also not as bothered as some by Trumps Putin bromanceto the Clintons to even NFL players kneeling during the national anthem: I think they ought to find a different way to object, to demonstrate. I would rather see all the players stand during the American anthem.
And while Carter does think Trump is exacerbating Americas racial divisions, he had this to say about the media coverage of the President:
I think the media have been harder on Trump than any other president certainly that Ive known about, Carter replied. I think they feel free to claim that Trump is mentally deranged and everything else without hesitation.
I have to give Carter credit in this instance, as he is at least pointing out the media bias, while Bush dumps on Trump.
stopped clock
Wow!
I sense ‘Art of the Deal’ here. Sometimes no deal is the best deal, for example — a shrewd negotiator in a position of strength expects to see gestures of goodwill before he even offers a seat at the table.
The only thing that matters to the Bush clan is keeping the Cheap Labor Express running.
What’s Carter up to here? I smell a rat.
Good point.
Isn’t Jimmah about 150 years old?
All I know is that he has been senile and lost his marbles some time ago.
LOL! When are you leaving?
I was stationed there for two tours. My first was writing the DMZ Report for .... President Jimmy Carter ... and my second was doing analysis of two North Korean corps. I received medals for both jobs and was promoted five times within those tours.
I watched some of that last night while watching the Judge Jeanine Show. For the first time I had a different view of seeing the 5 Presidents on stage at the same time.
We has the worst President in history and the 2nd worst President in history on stage. We had two who should be in jail. Those being Clinton and Obama.
Then we had the Bush’s.
If Jimmy Carter is saying it, well, that says something.
Throw us a bone Jimmy. Stinglaub put you in your place.
In ‘56 I was a Sgt USMC in a USMCR unit back home, In March that year I reenlisted again regular Corps; but since there had been no ITR my first cruise in ‘52, I got orders for ACT (ITR) @ CLNC (Geiger).
That was the year of S/Sgt Mckeon and the Ribbon Creek drownings. Chesty Puller came back from retirement to appear @ that trial.
Anyway, I had a Marine in my ITR platoon named Carter from Georgia. I recall him telling me about his older brother, an officer in the Navy, who was going to be governor of Georgia in a few years......
Never got back to Billy....
Carter would probably build the nuclear facility for Kim Jong-un.
Jimmy Carter wants that assignment to see Kim in North Korea, and he wants it bad. Jimmy may have figured out with Trump, honey works better than vinegar. “This may be ‘Mah very last chance to set the record straight!”
What have we got to lose? Jimmy Carter? Send him.
