The NFL allowed players to use the leagues national stage to disgrace the flag and the anthem. The NFL also chose to take the players side against the leader of the free world, when he rightfully called those players out. As a result, it appears the league may have done irreparable harm to its brand.
The ratings for Monday Night Football on ESPN tanked hard in Week 4.
According to Yahoo! Entertainment, Coming off last weeks Dallas Cowboys 28-17 win over the Arizona Cardinals, where the ratings actually went up for MNF, last nights game was not a victory for the Disney-owned cable giant nor the NFL in the early numbers.
(snip)
It cant be understated how bad these numbers are for the NFL. But first, some will say that Kansas City is not a major-market team and that has something to do with the poor performance, especially coming off last week, which featured Dallas and Arizona.
That point is not without merit, however, the Chiefs entered last night as the only remaining unbeaten team in the NFL. Throughout NFL television history, an unbeaten team playing on Monday night has always equaled ratings, regardless of market size. Not to mention, the Redskins come from a top-10 TV market. Which also makes up for KCs smaller market size.

Hehehehe, screw the National Felon League. ESPN to while we are at it.
The owners are being shaken down for cash to give the anti American causes they support. Reminds me of Jesse Jackson.
The guys at work were saying that there were commercial breaks during the game on ESPN where they just showed a blank screen with music. LOL
I hope they starve.
If these ratings do not improve the NFL is toast.
Not this year, but starting next year.
The next Democrat President will show up at an NFL Game and throw out the first Knee.
Anything on the Sunday attendance and ratings?
I was REALLY hoping they would crater bigly (is that still a thing?)
Here's a pic of a fireman taking a knee when the Coke machine swallowed his quarters.
More winning.
Walter Elias Disney, who made a MINT proving that there was a BIG market for family films & family entertainment parks, now spins at a hypersonic speed in his grave (or his cryovac) as his corporate successors prove that STUPIDITY BURNS!
Some have said that fans will eventually come back.
Some will, but what if we see a long term drop of 10 or 15% in ratings?? That would have a huge financial impact.
And we will have to wait and see, how many season ticket holders decide not to renew next year. If 10% or more fail to renew, that too will leave a mark.
What about those skybox rentals?? How many corporate and wealthy people who rent those will vote no for next year?
Thank God for MLB playoffs where real men play the best game ever invented! Second place would be golf.
Be funny if ticket prices for NFL games drop on StubHub so that the hoodrats start buying them and going to the games.
Yes, I would think next year will be worse unless they come out with a policy to respect the anthem. A lot of those seats are occupied by people who already bought their tickets over the summer and can't get a refund. Next year they'll have to deeply discount them to sell them, cutting into their revenues.
“But first, some will say that Kansas City is not a major-market team and that has something to do with the poor performance,”
B.S. Kansas City Chiefs are undefeated and the Washington Redskins are a major market team. I can hardly wait for the weeks of Super Bowl hoopla.......not!
People tend to forget that MNF used to be on ABC.
It was moved to ESPN because the ratings were falling.
They continue to slide.......................
Anyway, some ‘clever’ executives thought up their smart @$$ solution - simply not showing any anthem being played or not showing the crowd while anthem being played. ===> For them, No showing, hence no protest, problem solved.
I am glad fans are way smarter than these multimillionaires and multibillionaires.
It is the same stupid-ness as while shooting happening on the Vegas Strip, media decided not to show any of it. ===> So ‘it’ didn’t happen, according to them.
