Despite repeated attempts, Republican Texas Governor Greg Abbott has reported that he has been unable to reach Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner. Abbott has called Turner's cell phone "several times" to offer aid and whatever he may need in this time of crisis.

He did but his reasoning was trying to evacuate would clog the roads.
Does he have a safe somewhere in the flood zone he needs to clean out?
I Gotta Go Pee!!
Marion Barry during a DC snow storm with all the snow plows broken got on an airplane and went to the Caribbean, stating “God put the snow there, God can take it away.”
It wasn't until Thursday that the storm rapidly increased in strength. I believe that if they tried to start an evacuation on Thursday, it would have been like the Roman chariots in the Red Sea from the movie The Ten Commandments. Cars would have been bumper-to-bumper on the freeways when the water came.

Fire ants looking for the mayor.
Reverse Ray to N.O.!
Sleeping.
There are several other surrounding counties with several million people, can you just imagine how devastating an evacuation would have been.
I saw a lot of this storm first hand.
The guy’s been 24/7 since Thursday based on TV appearances. Perhaps he hit the wall.
I just can’t believe Houston never came up with an evacuation plan since the 2005 debacle.. South Carolina had similar situation in 1999 with attempted evacuation of Charleston that was a disaster. But this last falls Hurricane, a plan was put in place and evacuation was nearly perfect....
A day or so before the hurricane arrived, I heard a report that the Houston mayor wasn’t ordering evacuation. Apparently he thought it needed to be coordinated or it would just make things worse. So why didn’t he coordinate one or at least order evacuation of nursing homes and the like? What are the chances the media will question a Democrat if they can somehow push the blame up to the Republican governor? I’m pretty sure they’re working on how to spin the facts to fit their narrative.
“Probably running for the hills to avoid being in town when Trump arrives. I am sure if he is around when Trump arrives, he will be required to be present at the Presidents press conference and he doesnt want to be seen with the President.”
Saving the lives of citizens and their property when reality strikes is tougher than removing evil confederate statues and other left wing bs.
The mayor is probably busy rescuing his own property and valuables and not currently answering the phone.
Seems to me that many areas are without power and cell phone coverage may not be working in many areas.
Plenty of reasons he could be out of touch. I don’t think aliens took him away in a UFO.
... and so much for the premise of this article. The premise is trounced like a MSM reporter at a Trump news conference.
“Yes, the Republican governor said they should probably evacuate. That he would if he lived there.
The Democrat Mayor and the Republican judge over emergency services told them to stay put.”
I’m a conservative; I think the Mayor should have advised those who have a place to go to do so. But, requiring a mandatory evacuation of 4M people would have been a catastrophe.
“Melted ?”
Disappeared in a Sicilinan way I hope.
“Im a conservative; I think the Mayor should have advised those who have a place to go to do so. But, requiring a mandatory evacuation of 4M people would have been a catastrophe.”
Never should be mandatory. But should have urged splitting. Everyone staying behind is not A catastrophe pilgrim? Tell that to the schmucks and losers on their roofs now.
The mayor needs to be recalled sooner rather than later.
