Where Are the Statues of the First Blacks in Congress?
American Civil Rights Union ^ | 8/27/17 | American Civil Rights Union

The House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi now wants to tear down all the Confederacy-related statues in the U.S. Capitol, in solidarity with the Antifa (anti-Fascist) movement.

So we have to ask, where are the statues of prominent black Republican pioneers like Joseph Rainey or Hiram Revels?

If the left wants to tear down all the Confederacy-related statues may bite them back now people can say there never was a civil war and slavery never happened.

fyi

Obama’s family owned slaves.

https://www.educationviews.org/barack-obamas-ancestors-owned-slaves/

“On his mother’s side the 44th president’s (a) descendant of slave owners

” Obama’s great-great-great-great-grandfather, George Washington Overall... owned two slaves in Kentucky: a 15-year-old girl and a 25-year-old man... Obama’s great-great-great-great-great-grandmother, Mary Duvall, also owned a pair of slaves listed in an 1850 census record. They were a 60-year-old man and a 58-year-old woman. In fact, the Duvalls were a wealthy family whose members were descended from a major landowner, Maureen Duvall, whose estate owned at least 18 slaves in the 17th century.”

there’s slavery today in Africa. No moral outrage from the American left about it, though.

The article is well written, informative and succinct. Thanks.

Republicans’ claim to fame is a near comical inability to leverage a beneficial situation.

Here we are with the news, leftists, Dems all calling to hang some statues. This is not a problem, it is an opportunity.

What could be more appropriate to replace some of the statues than new ones made for the first black US Senator and first bunch of black US House members from shortly after defeating the South?

Destroying the confederate statues would be asinine. But some of them could be swapped - with great fanfare and historical notes - with these brave black Republicans.

To be precise: Anthony Johnson, who happened to be black, was the plaintiff in the court case that was the first in the Colonies to recognize lifetime servitude for someone who committed no crime.

But the life story of Anthony Johnson is extremely interesting even beyond that fact.

According to the House of Representatives website, the first African Americans to serve in Congress were, in 1870, Senator Hiram Revels of Mississippi and Representative Joseph Rainey of South Carolina.

Of course today’s Democratic Party would consider them to be white racist Nazis because both were members of the Republican Party.

You're right. It's almost like the 'black community outrage' is fake - and the 'outrage' is nothing more than a ginned-up tactic of white liberal elites...

it was a black man.

This was not uncommon. Booker T. Washington (an outstanding American) was owned by a black at one time. Slavery as an institution is very much ignorantly misunderstood by the left from the history to present day slavery. The Democrats and Islam have harbored the most slaves and condoned its practice.

Democrats owned slaves, left the union primarily to keep the right, lost the war to keep them, fought like hell to destroy freed slaves and put up monuments honoring the leaders of Confederacy.

Islam has had slavery as an attribute (as they see it) for thousands of years. They still have them and the left sees nothing.
