An official press release from O.F. Mossberg & Sons Inc. thanks local leaders for passing H.B. 1819, which will allow the Mossberg 590 Shockwave, which is manufactured in Texas, to be sold legally in The Lone Star State effective September 1, 2017.
Thanks to efforts by members of the Texas House of Representatives and Texas Senate, House Bill (HB) 1819 passed in May 2017, the Mossberg 590 Shockwave will be legal in the state of Texas, beginning September 1, 2017. The legislation was advanced through the combined efforts of Senators Charles Perry and Craig Estes, Representatives Poncho Nevarez and Drew Springer, the National Rifle Association (NRA®) and Texas State Rifle Association (TSRA®) and clarified Texas state laws concerning the purchase of suppressors and certain firearms, including the 590 Shockwave pump-action. The change in the law hits close to home for Mossberg as the company proudly manufactures the 590 Shockwave at their facility in Eagle Pass, Texas, which is also the home district for Representative Nevarez.

ATF says it’s a handgun. It was made with a sub-18” bbl and an OAL under 26”. If you had one and modified it to regular length shot gun you would be violating the rules... Indeed,12 ga is handful, and certainly not the ideal PD qeaon.
Too funny.
Dad had this on his boat. Fun when we were out

Stoeger makes a really nice little side-by-side coach gun.
Luparas are nice; I imagine it’s easy to make them... :^) (Just sayin’...)
I’m not sure this is a great home defense gun or great any other way. Seems like a fad for something that hides easily under a coat, which is really more like what a criminal would want. Can’t shoulder it so it’s point and shoot from the waist only. I can do that with my mossberg 930 tactical or my Remington 870 tactical and I can shoulder either of those if I need to. Of course all this is theoretical since I lost all my guns in that boat incident....
look at the KSG if you want a wild looking defensive shotgun
That is going to have significant barrel rise if firing magnum shells.
This is a nice review of it...PSA have been pushing them for about $359 online recently...

I stand corrected. Neither a handgun nor a long gun, a non-fat firearm, neat.
I've begun to prefer the Breacher as my shoulder can only take so many rounds fired in a day. It doesn't seem to make my wrist sore at all no matter how many times I fire it in a single day.
“Ill stick with my 16 inch model with a stock.”
If it is a shotgun under 18” and has a sock it isn’t legal.
I have one with a pistol grip and I press it into my hip to shoot it.
I definitely try to get the lightest loads I can for it.
Did it have the flotation attachment? :-)
California dreaming........
Yes, yes, many of us have had that tragic maritime accident.
If it slips you'll never be able to make babies. :)
LOL.
I wasn’t planning on it at my age (ya never know) but it
tends to slip to the outside of the hip with the recoil.
FWIW my accuracy is pretty good with it. First time I took it
out I set up three gallon milk jugs filled with water about
thirty feet away. Shot all three with three shots as fast as
I could work the action and fire.
