An official press release from O.F. Mossberg & Sons Inc. thanks local leaders for passing H.B. 1819, which will allow the Mossberg 590 Shockwave, which is manufactured in Texas, to be sold legally in The Lone Star State effective September 1, 2017.
Thanks to efforts by members of the Texas House of Representatives and Texas Senate, House Bill (HB) 1819 passed in May 2017, the Mossberg 590 Shockwave will be legal in the state of Texas, beginning September 1, 2017. The legislation was advanced through the combined efforts of Senators Charles Perry and Craig Estes, Representatives Poncho Nevarez and Drew Springer, the National Rifle Association (NRA®) and Texas State Rifle Association (TSRA®) and clarified Texas state laws concerning the purchase of suppressors and certain firearms, including the 590 Shockwave pump-action. The change in the law hits close to home for Mossberg as the company proudly manufactures the 590 Shockwave at their facility in Eagle Pass, Texas, which is also the home district for Representative Nevarez.

Is this the ultimate home defense weapon, other than a Claymore mine?

I Gotta Get Me One!!!
“...other than a Claymore mine?...”
Or a side by side coach gun shorty...
It’s a beaut...
My lucky day...I had ammo on my shopping list for this weekend; now I have an excuse to check this out!
I don’t see a suppressor on there or am I missing something?
I fired one similar except it had more of a pistol grip. The recoil was brutal. Not for me at all.
Others seem to like them so I will not say not to try it. Maybe you will like it.
I can’t imagine a 12 gauge not shouldered....
So is it a “handgun” or what? I’d put a shoulder stock on it myself. Like the abbreviated barrel for entertaining house guests.
No suppressor on the pictured one.
Well, Better Home Defense and Gardens do recommend that you place your M18 Claymore mines on the outside of your house but if you are looking for a neo modern edgy renovation of your house complete with Jackson Pollock blood spatter art, then by all means set on up in yo crib...
I have always wanted one of those Lupos like Michael Corleone’s body guards carried while he was in Sicily.
I have never owned one but did have a Rossi Coach Gun which had outside hammers. I liked it and it shot very well. Still I would rather have a high quality hammerless double.
Damn nice looking but impractical with unreliable aim.
I’ll stick with my MP5A3.
being a long gun, I imagine I could cross the state line and purchase one legally.
Do these come with a spare wrist?
I have a 590a1. It kicks like a mule. I cannot imagine shooting one with just a pistol grip. The first shot might be on target... the second one mont be.
I’ve got a Moss 500 - looks pretty similar.
Haven’t fired it yet. Don’t want to get it dirty, lol.
That thing will be tough on the wrists.
I’ll stick with my 16 inch model with a stock. Great shotgun, tho. For defense it’s better than an 870 in my opinion.
L
Well, I personally wouldn’t fire it one-handed.
