my neighbor summed it up quickly: “just let them try!”

But those predisposed to suicide can commit it with the States blessings as long as it is assisted. Got it.

I think that any person who has an inkling that they’d be coming for the families guns will be quickly hiding them; vacuum pack them and put them at the bottom of the septic system. They want then, they find them there well good luck and have fun getting them out (of course you have your quick way of doing it though).

No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.

Anyone remember when we had a Constitution?

So the result is that otherwise law-abiding citizens (or police) will be killed when such orders are being executed.

All it takes will be one rough police officer and one rogue judge.

If this passes...

Step 1. Find out who the security are for the Oreganian Governor/state rep/senators, Mayor etc....

Step 2. Use burner phone to call in anonymous tip that these people appear to be suicidal.

Step 3. Watch it get repealed the next day

Seize your property for flimsy reasons with poor due process? Sounds a lot like civil asset forfeiture & the War On Drugs.

So, they're going to take a suicidal man's guns and then, I assume, allow him to remain a free man while they prescribe some psychiatric care for him?

I can't think of anything better to get a man's mind off of suicide than revenge. Perks me right up just thinking about it :)

Good. Serves them right.

This is what happens when you elect these Alpha Hotels.

Oregonians deserve it.

Does anyone but me find it ironic that a state that allows doctor assisted suicide wants to take away the guns from people who might commit suicide.

B...b...but, suicide is legal or Oregawn. Shouldn’t they be required to provide ammo free of charge (after all, we got “positive” rights) if they think you’re going to kill yourself?

Seems this runs afoul the constitution and first time in court would be thrown out. Where is ACLU on this?

We need a State of Jefferson (conservative areas of Oregon and conservative areas of California), to stop these left wing brownshirts.

Meanwhile, most if not all Sheriff’s in the gun owning conservative counties in Oregon will not enforce this anti 2 amendment bs!

Just for your edification.

http://supreme.justia.com/cases/federal/us/5/137/case.html Marbury v. Madison 1803, vol 5, pg 137

It is also not entirely unworthy of observation that, in declaring what shall be the supreme law of the land, the Constitution itself is first mentioned, and not the laws of the United States generally, but those only which shall be made in pursuance of the Constitution, have that rank. Thus, the particular phraseology of the Constitution of the United States confirms and strengthens the principle, supposed to be essential to all written Constitutions, that a law repugnant to the Constitution is void and that courts, as well as other departments, are bound by that instrument.

http://supreme.justia.com/cases/federal/us/118/425/

Norton v. Shelby County, 118 U.S. 425 (1886) While acts of a de facto incumbent of an office lawfully created by law and existing are often held to be binding from reasons of public policy, the acts of a person assuming to fill and perform the duties of an office which does not exist de jure can have no validity whatever in law.

An unconstitutional act is not a law; it confers no rights; it imposes no duties; it affords no protection; it creates no office; it is in legal contemplation as inoperative as though it had never been passed
