Whataburger announced they will be closing all restaurants as of February 2018 (sarcasm)

The CEO of Whataburger Preston Atkinson announced earlier this month that they will be closing the doors at all their restaurants as of February 2018. The fast food chain has been going down hill do to competition and not being able to get other states to allow them to build restaurants there.

I have not even seen it in 40+ years, but there was one near Charlotte in Kannapolis, NC (or was it Concord?) when I was growing up.

*************

Those were not a part of the Texas What-A-Burger chain.

snip
What-A-Burger restaurants (as well with other variations of the name) were formed by other entrepreneurs than the Branch family during the post-World War II period. For example, a small chain now based in Concord, North Carolina, was founded by Eb Bost & C.W. Bost, Jr. and operates as What-A-Burger Drive-Ins, Inc. with several locations, are all still under the leadership of members of their families.[1] It also visibly numbered their stores starting from #1 in Kannapolis, North Carolina to #15 in Concord.[2][3]

The What-A-Burger restaurants in Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina are not to be confused with the much larger Whataburger chain based in Texas.

>>Well, to each his own. Fortunately for you there are still plenty of McDonalds, Wendys and Jack in the Boxes with their grey meat “burgers”.<<

Listing things that are worse doesn’t make it better.

In ‘n Out and Tommy’s — best burgers anywhere. No point going anywhere else (I really miss Tommy’s when I moved from L.A.)

There was a small burger chain (Mom and Pop, really) here in San Antonio many years ago called Whopper Burger.

And when Burger King (home of the Whopper) finally got to Texas in the 1980’s they had to allow this chain to continue on with Whopper Burgers. I can’t remember if there were any legal issues, but Whopper Burgers finally closed or were bought out when the owners retired.

Five guys? You must have money. LOL! We have a couple In&Outs but they don’t rate 12 cars minimum in the drive through constantly. Now if we could only GET a Whattaburger or a Blakes here................ We did just get a ChikFilA but it’s been so busy we decided to wait until Sunday to go. Then a quick trip to Hobby Lobby. ;-)

Wish Whataburger would reopen in Tampa...the last Whataburger became Zaxby’s.

Would love to have a couple of them in here.
Some of my fondest memories was stopping by Whataburger & 39cent Hamburger stand when stationed at Ft Bliss in the 80’s

Satire: the use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people's stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues.

Was there more at the link? (I couldn't get to it.) What was posted was not satire, or was really bad satire. plus, your photo was ridiculously large - you can adjust it:

Mine is kind of small. Just divide the original sizes (1500x955) by the same number (I divided by 5) to get the new size.

This is the format - just add < > around it:

The NC What-A-Burger is a different name. Note the hyphens.

Oddly, the very first Whataburger I ever went to was either Roswell or Albuquerque NM.

I never got the draw, until they came out with a toasted sandwich composed of chicken nuggets and gravy.

Now I get the draw.

You don’t even have to do all that. Just include a W or H number
you want to use in the posting info and it will size it accordingly.

We just got a Chick-Fil-A this spring, too, and every time I go there with the family after Church they’re closed.

My bad, like I said it was long ago in a galaxy far away. I didn’t notice the difference.

I’m surprised the ambulance chasers would have let that small of a difference go unchallenged.

So just add H=”191” instead of height=”191” width=”300” ?

I think the only Fuddrucker’s left in the Southland besides the one in Buena Park are in El Toro, Lakewood and Burbank.
