Sometimes, not always. And often digital, which can amount to ablou the same thing depending on the system.

No matter. It's the amount of radio traffic that tells the story, not the content, just like when you hear a whole lot of sirens of emergency vehicles responding to something busy.

You still want a working cell phone for one very important reason. And as long as you have it, you might as well take advantage of the feature while it's available.

Oh, the reason. It tells you whether or not the cell system is working, or has been killed by EMP, solar flare, or shut down. In which case, things just got a notch worse than routine.

“Is a Police Scanner app just a good as buying an actual scanner?”

Nope. I have found that the online police scanner channels are not always accurate. On one that I monitor, there have been many repeats of exciting car chases and standoffs...the scanner apps are fed by individuals who port a real scanner to the nets, but they can also feed recorded audio to the app feed.

I see them as entertainment, not sources of critical information. The fun part is listening to an event in Cleveland when I’m in El Segundo, but I have to realize that the radio talk might not be real.

The internet helps keep the hotheads on either side, and their trigger-happy fingers, off the streets.

It may keep those of us on the right off, but in case you're wondering, the left IS acting out their civil war thoughts. Their violence is easy to document.
