There is the slightest possibility that the Dems could regain the Senate in 2018. So the object of the nuke option is for their benefit not the Repubs.
But all in all the constitution doesn't even appear to call for a vote....but a consensus on character and knowledge.
McConnell need only come out, stride to the MSM, say “Nuts!”, and stride back into his office, slam the door.

I’m scared that a bunch of RINO’s and will fall for this and pressure McConnell to give Schumer something in the name of Senate tradition and bipartisanship, even if its just a meaningless and unenforceable “handshake agreement” not to do away with the filibuster if Ginsburg or Breyer bites it in the near future.(you don’t fold when you have a royal flush and you know your opponent has a pair of twos)
