Spicer: Um no, which bathroom you use is not an issue for the federal government
Canada Free Press ^ | 02/24/17 | Dan Calabrese

"You're asking us why we're following the law . . ."

How much absurdity have we signed on for when there’s not just one question about bathroom use at a White House press briefing, but the bathroom questions go on and on and on . . . even though they’re basically all the same question and they keep getting the same answer? Sound familiar? Google “Trump presser Russia.”

on this one issue i disagree- this is a safety issue for women and children all across the nation- a woman or girl should not have to go through being protected in one state, while not protected in another state as they travel

The left are desperately trying to make this issue into a ‘transgender only’ issue- and it’s not- this issue opens the door to every pervert this side of hell gaining free legal access to their victims in places that should be as safe as possible by PREVENTING perverts access to them in enclosed spaces and places where they change and shower-

Massachusetts just passed a freakin law ALLOWING KNOWN SEX OFFENDERS the ‘right’ to use the bathrooms of their choice- and there is now nothing that women and children can do to prevent it-0 so NO- this is NOT just about transgender men using women’s bathrooms- this is about ALL mentally sick individuals now having access to women and children’s bathrooms

Many safety issues are the responsibility of lower levels of government than the Executive Office

The State and local governments are in best position to determine bathroom safety for everyone

Spicer needs to rinse lather and repeat

This is not a responsibility of the POTUS

You don't understand the issue. The crux of the issue is Federal power. Obama was able to declare, by executive order, that "trans-whatevers" should can trample on common culture (in this case, bathroom practice) across America. OK - so Trump may change that order this. But what happens next time a Democrat is elected?

Give massive power to Fed.gov over society and they will use it AGAINST you. Conservatives may "win" occasionally, but you will lose 9 out of 10 times against our massive, debt-fuelled, leftist Federal nanny state. That's already a long-established fact.

Exactly. This is one reason I am against a federal marriage amendment. I would far rather see the appellate jurisdiction of the federal courts restricted from interference in social issues. The state-level marriage amendments passed with big majorities. Let’s defend them.

I’ll state it in a manner which _modern_ USA cannot even understand: The Federal government has no authority to do _most_ of what it does. Yes, I said most.

There has been a slow, steady push to ignore USConstitution for a long time; sometimes for what seemed like good ideas. There is _never_ a good reason to ignore/change the function of Federal government away from the supreme law; never. Whenever, USAians want to change the powers (authority) and limits within USConstitution, all USAians have to do, is amend it. Otherwise, me and my family will defend USConstitution, the supreme law of the land. Those that don’t are enemies of it; simple truth.

The DNC says that gender identity, determined only by a person’s choice of gender is “settled science”. They are going all in for “being queer is normal”. See this thread about Tucker Carlson going after this last night.

From now on women should go to the bathroom in groups.

I’m with this Silverleaf on this one.

It’s about time the fedgov took its hands off things that are none of its concern. This is clearly an issue for states to work out.

Sean Spicer is absolutely right. I also agree with the nut case transgender crowd that it is a personal issue. If I see a man claiming to be a woman going into a ladies restroom where my wife, daughter, sister, mother, aunt, or female cousin is, I will follow him in and make sure he has to piss sitting down for the rest of his (I hope) very short and miserable life.

not when it comes to lives and rape- this is a federal issue- many safety issues are regulated by the government- food safety is one- as it is the government’s responsibility to ensure safety- transporting a minor across state lines is a federal crime- there are federal laws against prostitution- when it comes to children- there are federal laws preventing many things- The Violence Against Women Act of 1994 created a federal rape shield law- there are Federal OSHA laws protecting all workers all across the nation-

We are talking about an issue that will affect all women and all children across all states- it won’t differ from one state to another- the women and children will be in as much potential danger in one state as in the next- Just like OSHA laws- women and children need to be protected to the best ability of the government across all states- Rape, molestations, beatings, crimes against women and children are life altering devastating crimes that need blanket protection because women and children in one state are NO less important than women and children in another state

I respectfully disagree that it isn’t a federal issue- this is a Huge national issue- it’s not just some obscure case where a small portion of people will be affected- it will affect all women and all children across the nation

That is exactly how the Founding Fathers would have handled the problem of Leftwing Activist Judges. Under Article III, Congress can absolutely accomplish that purpose by a simple act to that effect. I have long criticized Congressmen claiming to be Conservative for not working together to do just that. The problem seems to be that the "Politically Correct" types are unwilling to work together--that is different afflicted or offended groups working together--to stop all forms of social engineering.

Had the Founding Fathers not had the required level of mutual respect, the Constitution could never have been ratified.

Putting the Federal Government in charge of legislating this takes the states off the hook. The governors and state legislators can just tell their constituents "Hey, it's a Federal law - there's nothing I can do, my hands are tied."

Pass this responsibility back to the local law makers and administrators, and watch this legislation DIE as the state powers-that-be feel the heat (they want to get re-elected, don-cha-know). That's the power of Federalism.

You say "a woman or girl should not have to go through being protected in one state, while not protected in another state as they travel" - watch what happens to those states that try to keep those stupid laws. All the owners of restaurants, ski resorts, hotels, etc., will be screaming at their state capitols when they find out that nobody's vacationing there anymore.

Any states that are stupid enough to keep these insane laws in effect - now that the ball's in their court - will lose revenue as people stop traveling there. The businesses will get on the phone to the Capitol and raise Hell to get those laws changed pronto.

That's the beauty of Federalism.

[[You don’t understand the issue.]]

I understand it fine- when it comes to huge issues that affect everyone, in every state- then our government does have a responsibility to pass laws that protect the masses- the laws obama passed did no such thing- They set out to give special rights to a small minority- the trangender bathroom issue is a huge huge problem in the making- a preventable problem- the lives of women and children are at stake here- Our federal govenrment repealed a federal law banning gays from serving openly, and what happened? There was a skyrocket of gay rapes in the military, which is being hushed up by the government and the msm because the govnerment’s asinine repeal opened men up to increased attacks by gay people- the government is directly responsible for the devastation that men and women now have to endure thanks to our government making it more dangerous for them in the military- the same thing is going to happen to women and children- hell- it already is happening

[[But what happens next time a Democrat is elected?]]

they will abuse their powers just like they always do- nothing we do will prevent them from doing so- We can however fight back by reintroducing laws that protect morality and protect our citizens from serious heinous crimes against them

[[watch what happens to those states that try to keep those stupid laws.]]

A better approach is not to sit back and watch women and children get raped, but to be proactive and prevent it as best as possible in the first place- Lives are precious- and getting screwed up for life because something could have been prevented but wasn’t isn’t acceptable

[[watch what happens to those states that try to keep those stupid laws. All the owners of restaurants, ski resorts, hotels, etc., will be screaming at their state capitols when they find out that nobody’s vacationing there anymore.]]

While this MAY happen- it will take many years, and there wil l be countless victims while waiting and hoping-
