When The Rich Become Preppers, It's Time To Worry
Peak Prosperity ^ | 1-29-2017 | Chris Martenson

Posted on 01/29/2017 7:14:00 AM PST by blam

For over 10 years now, we've been openly advocating that folks take action to become more prepared should crisis arrive. And for a long time, this advice relegated us to being labeled "tin-foil hat doomsday preppers" (and other less-polite monikers). The media just couldn't figure out any other box to put us in.

But now, the concept of taking at least some responsibility for your own future well-being by increasing your self-reliance is finally moving towards the mainstream.

Of course, government agencies have long ascribed to "situational planning" in case sudden unrest were to happen. Nations around the world have long invested in redundant supply chains, as well as well-stocked disaster 'continuity caves', fortresses and hardened facilities of all sorts.

It's strikes us as puzzling that most private citizens fully expect their government to be prepared for disaster like this, yet don't see similar wisdom in practicing a similar approach to preparation in their own life. In fact, many go so far as to denigrate and even mock their friends and neighbors who do.

Perhaps that gap between what's considered acceptable in a public institution but not in a private home is best explained as abdication of personal responsibility. It happens a lot in our society. Live your life and let the government worry about the scary stuff. They'll take care of us if something bad happens.

We think it's a huge error in judgment (remember Katrina, anyone?), but we understand why it's a convenient and comforting narrative to hold. Plus, it frees up a lot more time to shop at the big box stores and keep up on the Kardashians. Life's more fun and stress-free...right up until some unexpected disruption occurs.

Well, we here at Peak Prosperity deeply believe in shouldering our own personal responsibility.

I just read that in case of a catastrophe, the rule of 10-80-10 applies to civilization.
The first 10 is the 10% prepped, prepared mentally, and perhaps physically. They have practiced what to do in an emergency and have a plan of action.
The 80 stands for the 80% of those who will be stupefied, unable to respond or take any action
The remaining 10 stands for the 10% who will freak out and go into panic mode.
Prepping means for you to plan your work before a crisis hits, and then work your plan to see if it is realistic, and doable . It means practice your plan.

Where’s the prepper’s list for safe international travel, especially getting through airports?

They can bunker down all they want. Sooner or later, the stored food in cans, jars and bags runs out and the security teams they hired will turn on them. Prepping is much more than just having a “safe space”. Self reliance is a requirement to have a chance in the long term, and even that isn’t guaranteed.

I’d say 10-80-10 is a good rule. Being prepared is definitely a way of life. I find it a natural thing to do. It also has a positive effect. Something goes on sale, I find I buy it in bulk, have a good place to store it, and my overall costs have gone down considerably. I have what I need and rarely ever need to “go to the store” because I am out of something.

Private jet, private or small regional airport has virtually no security.....getting through an airport for the superwealthy is not an issue....

Shutting down of the airspace that is enforced by the military would be unless you could have your flight authorized for national security purposes.....

Does this mean ‘Obama Administration Crazies’ would put them on a ‘watch list' to make sure they weren't ‘domestic terrorists’?

So many reasons to hate democrats and their thugs.. (Of course they'll be treated differently - and the boys in the press will NEVER see them as anit-government.)

God instituted authority to keep order (by restraining evil), so He has a say in all this. Preparation is fine, but the Lord is behind the scenes and let’s face it: we HATE that He allows evil to have a sphere of influence, even to the point of an eventual satanic kingdom that NO ONE can stop.

Except HIM. Satan is on a leash and it appears with Trump’s election it was just yanked and the global Satanici was rebuked. Always poetic Divine justice for God to use odd, fallen men to thwart the principalities and powers. “He who sits in the heavens laughs”—Psalm 2

The only reason the rich would become preppers is if they suspect anarchy is a possibility. Otherwise it would be a waste of their resources and time.

Everyone, "prepping" is not cultish or stupid.

Read this book if you have not. While the scenario is fiction, the threat of a national disaster and the ensuing chaos we can expect is not. This book was cited on the floor of the House and in Congressional Committee as a dire warning.

Scariest book I've ever read. The nursing home section was an eye-opener, and is why I'll be damned if I ever put my mother in a home. That and she'd kick my butt if I tried to take her away from the garden she loves so much.

“It’s strikes us as puzzling that most private citizens fully expect their government to be prepared for disaster like this, yet don’t see similar wisdom in practicing a similar approach to preparation in their own life.”

Maybe it’s because the government has taxed and inflated away all the money that ordinary people might have used to prep.

When you have no food in the house for the last two days of every month, prepping may not be the first thing on your mind.
