The latest media person to fail to think and count to ten before hitting the "Tweet" button is Matthew Dowd.
Once a Democrat, Dowd came over to the Republican Party in 1999, and was George W. Bush's chief campaign strategist during the 2004 campaign. He became an independent in 2008 and is currently a Chief Political Analyst at ABC News. He also claims to be Catholic, but clearly has a politically twisted understanding of the first Christmas.

Joseph had a home and a nation. Israel. The only reason he and his pregnant wife were forced to travel was because of a tyrannical government bureaucracy that wanted a census so they could collect more taxes.
Last summer we were traveling. At the place we wanted to stop there were no hotel rooms available so we had to make other arrangements.
Did that turn us into 'Immigrants' and 'Refugees'?
So let Matthew take in a few dozen at his high-rise crib.
And he can invite Anhella Merkel over if he’s short a dowd.
What a stupid crock. They were neither. They were a committed couple. Joseph was a proprty owner in Nazareth with a carpentry business. They were not paupers. They were going to Bethlehem to register for the census and to pay taxes. Paupers don’t pay taxes.
No they weren’t stoopnagel; they were citizens returning to their hometown to be counted in a census. Stop degrading the Holy Family by trying to make them look like illegal aliens sneaking into a country to vote Democrat.
Lies. Not misinformation, either. He knows better, so he’s just plain lying.
This guy is just plain stupid.
The inns were full because of the large movement of people to register at their birth places. Mary was lucky to find an empty barn. People were not “turning them away” through rejection. The inns were full and God found a place for Mary and Joseph in spite of that.
They were not refugees. They were travelers like everyone else ordered to register in their birth place. They were not Muslims, either.
During the Pubbie administrations in the past they were called “homeless”. Remember, if it’s not in the Gospel, . . just pretend it is.
Does she believe her lies are truth or just her truth?
Mary and Joseph were neither 'immigrants', nor were they 'refugees'. They were citizens of Judea, living in Nazareth, so they were not 'immigrants' The Roman Emperor called for a census of the country, so all males went to the cities of their ancestors. In Joseph's case, he was of the lineage of David, and Bethlehem was that seat, so Joseph took Mary with him on the journey.
They were not 'refugees', going into Bethlehem, nor were they 'homeless', because their home was in Nazareth. They simply couldn't find a hotel room, when they came into Bethlehem, so that had to seek alternate shelter.
They DID become refugees when they fled into Egypt, trying to keep Herod from killing the baby Jesus, but that came later.
