David, 31, New Jersey: I regret not voting, I never thought Donald Trump would win
I would have voted for Hillary Clinton, but I didnt. I thought she would win the White House.
I feel heartbroken for those disenfranchised Americans who voted for Trump, not because of his divisive rhetoric, but in spite of it. Hillary is a genius diplomat, but she proved, once again, to be an ineffectual communicator. She could not reach those desperate to put food back on their table. I used to drive past the front-lawn Trump signs in my town and dismiss the homeowner as a lunatic, but my own liberal elitism has blown up in my face. They are not lunatics, they are people with a different experience to me, and that has swayed how they vote.
I hope we will begin to understand how Trump voters experiences, not their ignorance, led them to this position. But I am scared to death for our environment, for those among us who are in need of care and, most of all, for those who cast their vote for Trump. They thought he was their last chance for prosperity. For these middle-Americans, the past was greater than the present. They remember a time when they, and their entire extended family, had decent-paying jobs. When every storefront in their now-deserted town had a thriving local business.
There was a stark disparity of views in this election, and why was the result so unexpected? Because when the liberal establishment of this country drove by front-lawn Trump signs, they had the same response as I did....

Looking back, I think the Clinton campaign/MSM’s campaign to gaslight Trump voters backfired against them. The passion of the Trump voters to record their votes no matter what the outcome was greater than that of the Clinton voter, 90+% of whom were at best lukewarm towards her.
his one vote in NJ would have made no difference for Hillary since she won NJ without his vote...
I said several times that showing Clinton so far ahead was going to suppress her own vote. Morons.
Hillary is a genius diplomat? I suspect Ambassador Chris Stevens would say otherwise.
I THINK she might be saying that we were “disenfranchised” under obama. But she makes it all sound like a back-handed compliment and sympathy.
Wrong! Much more than that! They thought, correctly, it was the last chance for their, and the nation's, survival!
I thought he needed to be checked for a brain. . .
By definition, nobody who is able to vote is disenfranchised.
Hillary ‘the genius.’
OK.
Next thread please.
How about if their (legal) vote is cancelled out by an ‘illegal’ vote. I would call that disenfranchisement.
I would call that voter fraud.
Thank you - I was going to say (”and I’m not sure I even know what that word means”). I was thinking it was more like not being heard. Thanks!
Please... This is all nonsense... folks on both sides don’t vote every election, generally close to 50% don’t vote.. so finding someone whining the person they would have voted for but couldn’t be bothered to show up to vote lost is just nonsense...
THe Media is the enemy... period.
HILARIOUS! The media padded the “polls” with oversampled Democrats...and then are shocked when people BELIEVE them!
Which makes me wonder; with all those bogus polls, how many people didn’t vote for Trump because they thought Hillary was a shoe-in?
Either they:
1) contradict themselves
2) take something out of context and distort it
3) come up with weird ideas or conclusions
Examples:
1) They'll heroically stand up and defend illegal -- oops, non-documented -- immigrants, arguing for civil rights. But they will not defend religious people who do not want to bake cakes for gay couples.
2) Defense of gay marriage. The Bible (Genesis) says, "It isn't good for man to be alone." (But the verse continues, "So God created woman, etc.")
3) If a liberal sees only white people in the neighborhood, he/she/it(non-gender specific) assumes the place is racist.
This article is newsworthy?
Sorry to tell you, David, but abstaining is a vote in and of itself.
