2016-10-28 James ("Jimmy the Weasel") Comey Reopens The Case: Some Theories.

So, here we stand on the brink of the Presidential election in 2016 with what very well might be the last hope for the Republic, and for reasons nobody seems to quite understand, today the FBI dropped a bombshell on the Clinton campaign.

The BIG QUESTION is Why? Why Now? The obvious answer, that the FBI found additional evidence of criminality on the part of Hillary!® or her minions, flunkies, and stooges is, to say the least, preposterous. Anyone with the IQ of a mollusk has known Hillary!® is as guilty as Benedict Arnold, the Rosenbergs, Aldrich Ames, … OK, pick your favorite (or least favorite) traitor as the case may be. James Comey knew it, too. But after slamming Hillary!® non-stop in his press conference, he ultimately backed off on recommending indictment with his famously tortured reinvention of the espionage statute.

So, she was off the hook. What’s happened?

Here are some theories. Please add your own.

Theory 1: Another agency (or Agency) has been able to verify that someone does indeed have all of the Clinton emails, and has given the FBI the heads up that a shoe is about to drop, and they’d better get ahead of this before the proverbial poop pummels the propeller.

Theory 2: There really are some people left at the Bureau with some integrity, and they’ve threatened to go live. Comey’s calculation then becomes: what hurts more, high profile resignations and or/whistleblowing and all the damage that goes with that, or defenestrating Her Thighness? (That’s “throwing under the bus,” for the illiterate DU’ers lurking here.) No doubt senior FBI officials spilling the beans could hurt Comey, The FBI, the Administration, and Clinton a lot more than today’s FBI statement. And seen in this light, the decision is simple damage control: the best way to put a lid on the insiders threatening Comey is to throw them a small bone that’s going to amount to nothing in a few weeks. And Hillary, like Sauron, “can deal with the little people later.”

Theory 3: The revelations that over a million dollars were laundered to the Deputy Director of the FBI through his wife’s unsuccessful state senate bid was just more than even the corruptocrats at DOJ could stand. [Right. OK. I know, I know. Over 90% of the people at DOJ have donated to or openly support Clinton, so this theory is about as dead on arrival as the Phlogiston theory of Combustion. I mean, really, a woman who can stand up in front of the country and claim that her 30 years in public service – which have netted her and her corrupt family a quarter of a billion dollars -- have been a “sacrifice,” simply has no shame. And neither does anyone who supports her. Still, just throwing it out…]

Theory 4: The folks handling the Weiner investigation actually did discover some things, and given how ridiculous the whole probe into Anthony Weiner was, these folks may have been lower level agents who haven’t yet been “made men” in The Clinton Global Crime Family. As a result, what they found on Huma Abedin’s computer threatened to reveal some of the things that Comey and the more senior FBI agents and DOJ lawyers had already deep-sixed with their generous immunity deals and deliberate spoliation of evidence. Again, as with Theory #2, today’s announcement is simply a way to get a lid on the new evidence, destroy it, and let the whole thing blow over. [And if you threw up in your mouth a little bit at either or both of the phrases “Weiner investigation” or “Probe into Anthony Weiner,” you are most certainly not alone, believe you me.]

Theory 5: This is basically an extrapolation of the position taken by Ed Klein in his book Guilty as Sin in which he paints a very sympathetic picture of James Comey: Straight shooter, family man, devout Catholic.

All the Good Stuff.

According to Klein, Comey was allowed to run a full, complete, and straight-up investigation of Hillary Clinton. In the meantime, 0bama was leveraging this investigation against Hillary!® behind the scenes. He really does hate the Clintons, and he tried desperately to get Joe Biden to run, and failing that attempted to persuade Fauxcahontas (or is it Lie-a-watha?) Anyway, Joe is too old, too tired, and too devastated by the death of his son, and Princess Cherokee-Cheekbones is not really much of a politician and was not the least bit interested in getting in the oncoming headlights of the Clinton Smear Machine. When he realized he wouldn’t be able to get either of them – or anyone else of standing -- on board he told Lynch to shut down the FBI investigation.

In Klein’s theory, Lynch told Comey that if he recommended indictment, she would try the case in such a way that Hillary would be acquitted. The result, anathema to Comey’s sensibilities, would be that he and the Bureau would be disgraced, having inserted himself and a supposedly apolitical law enforcement organization into a presidential race running full throttle in a partisan manner, and that from the acquittal Hillary would emerge inoculated from future examination, and stronger than ever.

This theory explains why Comey took the unprecedented step of laying her guilt out before the whole world only to pull back the football with a bizarre legal theory at the last moment. And it might explain today’s announcement: he’s been trying to do the right thing all along, without having any legal apparatus behind him. This theory explains a lot, but it has problems, not the least of which is Comey’s dubious clearing of the Clinton Global Crime Family on two previous occasions, and the financial connections he and his family have enjoyed to “The Foundation.”

Personally, I think a lot of Klein’s argument makes sense, but frankly is too clever by half. I think the part about 0bama wanting somebody else is true. I think the part about him allowing the investigation to go on to pressure both Clinton (to not run) and her potential rivals (to run) is also true. And certainly the part about telling Lynch to pull the plug – if he even needed to – is true as well. But I stop right there, because I believe Comey has been in on The Fix from the git-go.

So, what think you, fellow insomniacs and deep thinkers? Is James Comey a latter-day Thomas More, hoping to tightrope walk the damning moral hazard on one side of the abyss and the dangerous personal consequences for himself on the other? Or is he Thomas Cromwell, the kind of corrupt enabler that every tyrant requires?

Personally, I believe it’s the latter; and I believe that whatever motivates today’s announcement, it has been done for one reason and one reason only: someone higher up the food chain than Hillary Clinton is potentially exposed by new revelations, and this is the least damaging way to make them go away. And hey, a country that elected He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Middle-Named twice, might just go ahead and elect Hillary in spite of all the criminality.

I still think we need miracles (please God) to prevent the election results from being rigged.

Makes sense then, that the Feebs have lost control and are now in full damage control mode.

Not necessarily so, Fred.

According to http://nypost.com/2016/09/22/nypd-investigating-weiners-sexting-relationship-with-teen/:

Prosecutors in US Attorney Preet Bharara’s office have issued a subpoena for Anthony Weiner’s cell phone and other records, law enforcement sources said.

NYPD detectives and the Manhattan DA’s office are also “looking into” allegations that Anthony Weiner engaged in a months-long sexting relationship with an underage girl, sources told The Post Thursday...

I am not knowledgeable enough to speak with authority but I thought US Attorneys issued subpoenas for US business not for municipalities.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong. I'd much prefer NYPD was holding the reins than the feds.

You realize that none of these are mutually exclusive and in fact, ALL, are probably true. The answer to number one is Wikileaks.

In fact the answer to EVERYTHING is Wikileaks. Whatever any of these clowns tries to do will be blown to pieces by Wikileaks so it is irrelevant. Even trying to “drain the pus” out as the Clinton’s like to do is futile. It just draws attention to the thing.

My theory, Clinton is cratering in the REAL polls. Zero does not want her dragging him down with her. Sure, he can pardon her BUT WHO IS GOING TO PARDON HIM? Realistically, even if he pardons her, like Ford pardoned Nixon, he has to give SOME idea of just what it is, generally, the pardon covers. If it is the server and emails, she is still vulnerable on the Foundation. You get the idea. Whatever the pardon covers she is so corrupt there will still be things to get her on the pardon did not cover. The Klown can’t pardon her for “everything she did for years”. Read Ford’s pardon, a little vague but still focused on certain acts.

You are under estimating Wikileaks, IMHO. Even if the BSM won’t cover them the leaks throttle what they DO cover. The Wikileaks are KILLING them.

The fix was in before the investigation started. Let’s recall that someone chose to start the investigation into Hillary’s email server without a grand jury ... hence no subpoena powers.

NYPD has clearly seen something that the FBI did not want them to see; if they thought they could sweep it completely under the rug, they would not have reopened the investigation.

Preet Bharara is supposedly a good guy (well... That was allegedly true of James Comey, and we now know how untrue that was.) But Bharara has gone after some very high profile Dems in New York State and brought them down. I can't believe the people behind this cover-up can be happy that other agencies have seen the things they granted immunity and destruction of evidence in order to conceal.

My theory: They knew that Hillary was going lose the election, and needed a way to get her to step down so they can postpone the election and replace Hillary with someone else who can actually win against Trump.

Also, I just perused DU (I’m going to hit the shower imminently as a result), and they’re convinced that this will galvanize the left and cause a bump in support for Hillary as a result. Could this whole stunt have been a convoluted scheme to whip up the democrat base?

Bravo, Fred! I love the conclusion of More VS Cromwell.
Now, More would never have exonerated the Clintons back
then, so I don't see a newly-minted More. Cromwell perhaps,
but maybe that is overly harsh. I would not rule out threats.

Maybe it’s been nibbling at Clinton’s support, but the Wikileaks haven’t resulted in the knockout blow that it would in a sane world.

Obama knee capped poor old Hillary . This is a battle of to mob bosses . The Clinton foundation was exposed as money scam for Bill from Wikileaks. No better time than know to take out the only person standing in the way from being king and queen of the leftists . Follow the money who benefits the Obamas. Who becomes the opposition to Trump .Start a foundation roll in the cash .

Comey never argued that Hillary didn’t break the law, but did not recommend prosecution because there was no intent. So all they need is an email or other evidence that proves intent, and her goose is cooked.

....”In the meantime, 0bama was leveraging this investigation against Hillary!® behind the scenes. He really does hate the Clintons, .....”

Just the opposite.

#6. Clinton was given the Secretary of State position as an agreement upon conceding in 2008 to Obama. They despise him, but could not lose their bind on the blacks, so her total backers used the “Secretary of State” facade, to conceal an operation Shadow Executive Branch. Nothing from Obama has been original. The oppressive BodyMortgage Act, originated from the Clinton backers, as does TPP,( making sure they’re exempt of course).

The Wikileaks disclosure of the Doug Band memo on Teneo and the CF is a smoking gun. The FBI can’t ignore it. Huma was an employee of the State Department, Teneo, and the CF at the same time. Her emails probably contain incriminating evidence of the pay for play shenanigans of the CF.

The NYPD IT department has proved to be 3 times more proficient in identifying a threat than the FBI. Apparently there is some pride on the line. About three more days of the October surprise are remaining. The National Enquirer is promising another bombshell next week—yawn. The problem now is not only the new laptop but any WIFI connection to that equipment that essentially made it a public broadcasting system for anyone willing to snoop. The threat to the Clinton campaign going off message is severe—where are my focus groups at this late hour?. The danger is any average person can understand what Weiner did without an explanation by the MSM. And when Hillary’s shoe fell off, Dick Morris was interested again. And somewhere in the background someone is whispering to Trump that he doesn’t have to play the cards he is holding, she will fold.

Actually, Comey did say that she did not break the law, because in his legal opinion, the law requires intent. Mens rea ("criminal intent") is a requirement of most crimes. It is not a requirement of the espionage act.

Comey's legal interpretation was flat out wrong.

The espionage act specifically says that gross negligence alone, with or without intent, is a violation of the statute.

But in any case it is a moot point. One can never really know what is in another person's mind, so the the question of intent invariably requires specific tests for its application, which all prosecutors use. One of them is action of apparent "guilty knowledge." Clinton repeatedly refused requests to provide evidence, and by her own admission deliberately destroyed evidence. That alone is proof of intent in most courtrooms.

Comey's legal interpretation was a facile rationalization to do what his masters told him to do.

To get to the place where a Friday night massacre is a reasonable option there must be some upper echelon operative who wants Trump elected. Who that might be and why escapes me.
