Mother Nature Network considers him a climate change hero, based on the fact that he killed lots of people (and people are a scourge upon the earth):
"Over the course of the century and a half run of the Mongol Empire, about 22 percent of the world's total land area had been conquered and an estimated 40 million people were slaughtered by the horse-driven, bow-wielding hordes. Depopulation over such a large swathe of land meant that countless numbers of cultivated fields eventually returned to forests."
Not sure why they left out Stalin and Mao.

"The greatest pleasure is to vanquish your enemies and chase them before you, to rob them of their wealth and see those dear to them bathed in tears, to ride their horses, and clasp to your bosom their wives and daughters."
is the basis for Conan's quote on what is best in life:
"To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women."
If he found the greatest pleasure in that then he was clearly deranged

Wrong, wrong, wrong. You have to spell it like Kerry says it. Chingis Khan.
Did Khan carry around a pocket Constitution?
What computer models was Khan using?
Global warmists should take their own advice and reduce the surplus population - you first!
He did not seem to kill for pleasure rather because you tried to get in his way or you tried to kill him.
I kind of liked him because he slapped the mohammedans around so hard they cried uncle.
If it had not been for him the mohammedans would have had a much larger power base and been free to turn their attention to the West.
Civilization probably would not have survived.
I thought Kerry pronounced it like Jengis Con?
Actually the Mongolians pronounce it Chinggis Khan. They still idolize him. So in that regard, Kerry is right. In pretty much everything else he’s wrong.
Herry said it like Jen-Jiss, with 2 "J" sounds. I have always thought it was properly pronounced like Jen-Giss, with a "J" sound and a hard "G" sound.
I think there is a two-edged sword in there somewhere.

Genghis Khan killed lots of people, true, but of the people he killed, in non-mohamedan cities, he only took out the leadership and left the people alone, while in mohamedan cities, he basically killed everyone and burned their city to the ground.
When the empire broke up the four parts adopted the majority religion of the area they controlled.
However the Christians united with the mohammedans to fight the Golden Hoard. If they had not the mohammedans probably would have been wiped out.
A good lesson in being careful who you ally with.
Wait a minute, Genghis Khan is dead? I was gonna send flowers.
Ah...the good Old Days!
