This is my very first vanity after nearly twelve years on FR. I just want to ask other animal lovers to say a prayer for my cat. I am not normally one to ask for help, but I am stressed out.
She is sixteen and over the past week has been going through some bad stuff that came on rather suddenly. I won't go into the details but you might consider buying stock in paper towels and cleaning supplies. The doctors have eliminated everything and seem to think it is a bleeding stomach ulcer. She came home today but I can't get her to eat and she is obviously uncomfortable. There are medications I have to give her that I have researched and may help but haven't yet.
Thank God I have a family member helping me out; I am very blessed to have that. I am under deadline for work and low on sleep and hope. This cat found me and has insinuated herself into my very heart and is more faithful of a companion than some dogs. I couldn't believe how lost I was when she was in the hospital, and now I fear I'm facing that on a permanent basis. She's had a hard life medically and I have done everything for her that I possibly could. I want to chuck my work out the window and just lay on the floor with her.
I will try to check into the thread as often as I can but I have to keep checking in on her and try to get work done while watching her suffer. I just want to access the power of FR prayer.
Prayers for you and your kitty.
A suffering pet is no trivial thing.
Prayers Up.
The clinic had multiple vets consulting on her case, because they were perplexed. They came to a diagnosis by ruling out everything else.
As I was in the waiting room looking over the invoice, it occurred to me that she had a battery of tests that would have cost me a fortune and a half if I was the one getting them!
I'M STILL HERE
Please dont mourn for me Im still here, though you dont see. Im right by your side each night and day and within your heart I long to stay.
My body is gone but Im always near. Im everything you feel, see or hear. My spirit is free, but Ill never depart as long as you keep me alive in your heart.
Ill never wander out of your sight- Im the brightest star on a summers night. Ill never be beyond your reach- Im the warm moist sand when youre at the beach.
Im the colorful leaves when fall comes around and the pure white snow that blankets the ground. Im the beautiful flowers of which youre so fond, The clear cool water in a quiet pond.
Im the first bright blossom youll see in the spring, The first warm raindrop that April will bring. Im the first ray of light when the sun starts to shine, and youll see that the face in the moon shine is mine.
When you start thinking theres no one to love you, you can talk to through the Lord up above you. Ill whisper my answer through the leaves on the trees, and youll feel my presence in the soft summer breeze.
Im the hot salty tears that flow when you weep and the beautiful dreams that come while you sleep. Im the smile you see on your happy face. Just look for me , Im every place!
Prayers that the medication you are giving your cat will bring her to complete recovery.
Lifting your kitty up in prayer. May this dear pet find rest and healing.
Prayers also for you. You are a wonderful cat owner, may you be blessed in your home and employment.
Syringe feeding is going to happen later tonight...not looking forward to it, but it must be done. Even the baby food didn’t work.
The ancient word for cat from Egypt is Mau. Which comes from the meow sound they make. I pray for Mau.
Finlay is a great looking cat. The coloring on his face is great. Looks like a mask!
God has granted to our feline friends nine lives. They need them. The life of a cat is hard. Especially an outdoor cat. But, they wear them well. We are afraid of the inevitable loss of our companions. A sixteen year old cat is way beyond the norm. Still in the range of the possible, but every day is a day closer to the end. Embrace the process. Accept the inevitable. Be grateful that she did not have to live on without you. After all, it is the survivors who mourn.
When it was time for the end for Pedro, my best friend, at 17, I had the vet come to the house, and slowly put him off to sleep in my arms, in the sunny spot he favored.
Prayers are needed all right, but for the survivor. It is you that is in my prayers.
Every reply in this thread has given me a little shot in the arm. Very kind and decent people populate this forum.
We pray that your kitty will be well soon!
Two weeks ago, I found my cat, Callie, paralyzed in my closet. I took her to the emergency clinic and they thought it was a stroke or blood clot. They put a clipboard in my lap with an amount of paperwork equivalent to a car loan application with a figure starting at $1500 -2500 if they kept her 18 hrs and ran tests but couldn’t guarantee they would know what was wrong with her. Then they threw in another $2000-2500 if they did an MRI. All the tests, except for the MRI, were going to hurt her. I made the decision to have her put down and I am heartbroken. My little girl was 2.
It is a horrible place to be but all we can give them is that we love them enough to not let them suffer. As much love as you have for her, you will know when the time is right.
I am praying your baby gets better. Have you tried some deli meat like roast beef or turkey to get her to eat? Is she getting enough fluids?
And I am liking the post about the rice. Maybe cook the rice in chicken broth.
Sixteen is a beautiful age for a cat. Lots of good times :)
If you’re watching her suffer, then it’s time to let her go.
Go ahead, lay with her and tell her about all the wonderful times you’ve had with her. Remind her of those times. Talk to her, let her hear your voice and the love in it. Watch her. Sometimes you may say something to her that will make her react lovingly towards you. Laugh, cry, pet her the special way she loves to be petted.
Take time for her NOW so that later on you will not have regrets or feel guilty for not doing something. Instead you will remember the quiet time you’ve had with her during her recovery. It will be a comforting memory.
Prayers up for your kitty and you.
Lord have mercy.
Very nice.
May I ask your kitty’s name? Prayers for sure!! We all understand.
I have an older cat and he has had a few problems too. I grow cat grass which is good for their digestive system if they are indoor cats especially. I pray for you and your little furry friend, I know how you feel, I’ve had my cat companion for over fifteen years.
