Cruz’s Pyrrhic victory in Colorado will be the death knell of his campaign
The Coach's Team ^ | 4/15/16 | Kevin "Coach" Collins

By definition a, “Pyrrhic victory is a victory that inflicts such a devastating toll on the victor that it is tantamount to defeat. Someone who wins a Pyrrhic victory has been victorious in some way. However, the heavy toll negates any sense of achievement or profit.” Ted Cruz won a Pyrrhic victory in Colorado.

The blow back from Cruz’s big victory in Colorado is causing his campaign to meltdown across the whole northeast. The false bravado by those in the media who insist that the Colorado disaster has stopped Donald Trump’s momentum and shifted it to Cruz is embarrassingly silly.

Aside from the fact that there have been no primaries since the Colorado Disaster, the polls measuring voter sentiment in upcoming primaries show Cruz getting buried all across the northeast and Trump’s approval ratings at record (for him) high levels.

The startlingly stupid comments from one of the Colorado GOPe officials who helped arrange Cruz’s “big but voter-less” victory has turned into another log on the fire burning down Cruz’s campaign. You cannot flip off offended voters by cavalierly advising them to “Go ahead, burn down the Party” and not expect to be hit back. The problem for Cruz is that since the Colorado official is not running for anything, Cruz stands alone as the only target for voter anger.

It is indeed ironic that Cruz’s remark about “New York values” that played so well to the jealous New York haters in...

Curious, I wonder, would you have held the same view if Trump had worked the rules and won? Of course you would!

That’s the problem. They didn’t...nobody not already designated as a delegate voted.

Does not diminish the central point of the argument...it is, in fact, a pyrrhic victory.

To be honest, Cruz has no personality or likability. He is dry, repetitive and comes off as stuck up.

Ted doesn’t have the stuff to ever IMO win as President unless he does years under a good President first like Bush#1 with Reagan.

You can’t grow a personality.
Without getting into his personal blemishes he loses before he starts against Democrats.
Republicans start off as it is dealing with a large taker vote of 40%+.

The best those wanting Cruz will get is the RNC calling conservatism the reason 2016 was lost to Hillary.
The RNC would use Cruz to go back to Romney, McCain and Dole candidates.

I would if Trump were losing the popular vote by millions and scavenging up delegates behind the scenes to try and flip the people's will.

Anyone who can't see how wrong this is just isn't looking. If the GOP didn't want to stop Trump, Cruz wouldn't be getting these delegates. His supreme ground game is just cover for a GOP and billionaire donors working the delegate angle.

And do they believe that if Cruz were to wrangle the nomination on the 2nd ballot with these tactics that we would say "fine, he won fair and square". Nope, this is not the way to stop Trump because despite the GOP and Cruz theories that only stupid people support Trump, we're smart and we see what they're doing.

Why would people automatically turn radical left to be a democrat because one republican?? If the republicans continue as turncoats Colorado will turn farther right.

If I was Cruz I wouldnt be proud that a lot of pot smokers voted for me...

Pot smokers would not be motivated to vote unless it was form more pot.

this is crazy...These people would be claiming what a great tactician Trump is and only proves he knows how to make deals...when the exact opposite is proven he yells cheater.

The federal government is run by the bureaucrats> they will run over a person like Donald Trump. Someone that holds no real core values other than bumper sticker slogans.

Cruz has been studying this his entire life. His views haven’t changed with the PC crowd. Even the students that loathed him say the Cruz you see today is the Cruz they saw 25 years ago.

But heh how often do we get to vote for whiney celebrity that will build a wall and slap a tariff

Cruz doesn’t speak the language of real people. He speaks like an attorney. His campaign is no longer what he’ll do, rather it’s a campaign mocking Trump. Problem is, when mocking Trump, he’s also mocking his supporters, which is not a winning strategy.

In addition, gloating over a flawed Colorado delegate process, as if he won some sort of election, looks bad.

We have a 50/50 chance of getting CO since Trump WILL be the nominee. Zero shot if he isn’t. It’s gone dem the last two cycles, and now that pot is legal, it might be a lost cause.

CO hasn’t been R for many cycles.

It would never go R, too much welfare and too many dopers.

I think it’s safe to say that it isn’t even near purple anymore.

It’s the combination of “CO Rules” and tediban’s back room deal “wins” that will do him in. It’s stereotypical DC crap and everyone is sick of it.

I would if Trump were losing the popular vote by millions and scavenging up delegates behind the scenes to try and flip the people's will.

You realize that what you are saying is a misrepresentation? We may not like the way Colorado's rules were changed, but they were there for everyone to read, Trump's campaign fell down there, and from what I have gleaned from amongst all the BS posted, is that almost all of what Cruz has done is to get delegates to commit to him IF there is no nominee selected on the first vote and after they are no longer committed to their state's winning candidate. These are the rules of the game, to be angry at Cruz because he knows the rules and plays the game better is sour grapes. It is more rational to be upset with Trump for not having people on board his campaign that knew all the ins and outs of the game from the start.

If this is a contested convention, it won't be the first time, maybe it hasn't happened for a long time, but it has happened. Trumps weakness here was to assume that he was running so strong(no argument there) that he would get 1237 or more and so didn't bother to concern himself with the back game until to late.

To be surprised that the GOP is playing it's own game is foolish, and everyone should have seen it before the election cycle even started, political parties will always look out for what they consider their best interests first, we the people are secondary. This is one of the reasons Trump appeals to me, but then he says he will get along with the dems because he is a deal maker and I'm tired of deal makers, which leaves me adrift for right now. That's why I'm tired of all the rah rah rah, my guys great and your guy sucks, it does nothing to make me want to vote for either Trump or Cruz.

You may think you’re just being sarcastic and witty, but I can tell you that I won’t vote for any Republican candidate for any office at any level if Trump is screwed out of the nomination by the Cruzers and the GOPe. And there are many, many others just like me who will do the same thing. That means that, yes, indeed, there will be a pantload of Republicans that will lose their elections due to the corrupt chicanery of the Cruzers and the GOPe. And you can take that to the damn bank! Har de har har...
